Utopia is energy independent in same sense that i'm transport independent because i own a car though it doesn't run because i've no gas. Energy independence is an interesting concept that has two flow imo. Commercial supply & war time supply. Utopia created the illusion of being energy independent by fracking shell & making up for the cost of it by making other top producers keeping the price at certain level. China has largest shale oil/gas reserve in the world. It doesn't call itself energy independent.
