so left-handed are automatically excluded from elite units??
i dont remember stating that.
how did you come to that conclusion?

Why is everyone so paranoid about the type 95 not being able to shoot left handed?
If there is need for left handed soldiers to use the type 95 then i'm sure that the chinese engineers could manufacture a specific left handed type. And they havnt done so yet (atleast to our knowledge) thus proving that there is not/not enough demand.
i'm more concerned about the costs and quality. Correct me if i'm wrong, but is the type 95 the first chinese rifle with polymer components?

Really wise... But make it to come future standard weapon is severly hampered if not all can use it, thats the point I've making

I honestly think not, due to the fact we have many more right handers in this world then left, not severely hampered at all, but its potential talent that can not use the weapon of course, but you make it seem as if its a big thing which to me its not at all.

from this:
Having a type 95 is only a privilige to some elite soldiers

And from the fact that left handed people cannot shoot with it;) It really bugs to apply for special unit if you cannot even use the main weapon.:D :D

Cause at birth most parents encourage their children to use their right hand instead of left

...and that doesent work my friend. If you are left handed, then you are left handed. Only thing that you can achive by that brutal upbringing is to become poor rigth-hand shooter.

Left handed shooters yes be not be able to use the Type 95 but you shall never let talent go to waste. For left handed shooters in the PLA Elite they would be equipped with the submachine gun Type 85. Which is an ambo weapon.

No military doesent work that way, expecially not special forces. You dont just throw out some weapon to someone if he is physically disaple to use other...that is exactly wasting of tallent, becouse sub-machine gun using needs different skills than normal rifle shooting...and it doesent come automatically by birth with left-handed people. different weapons are assigend to the user that is most fitted for the task.
Also, another basic feature of special forces is that its personel are able to use all sort of weapons, what sort of SOW man is that who cannot use the main rifle of the unit??

LOL, in China the left handers are way less than those in the west, since Chinese teachers have no tolerence towards "leftists", most of them are "corrected" in very early age.

I was really surprised to find so many leftists in the west when I came here.

My parents did that with my sister actually she was using her left more, until they encouraged her to use her right hand, it was like bad luck in Chinese to use your left hand or something.
I specifically remember when we were talking to some medical guy i think, back in the day, is that if we are left handed its because our brain is like more connected to our left, so there is no reason why if you don't use your right hand enough you will become right handed.

The use of the left side of the body is actually connected with the right side of the brain (similarly for the other side). Also, you won't become left-handed if you don't use your right hand enough. People born left-handed will always be left-handed, which goes the same for right-handed people. Personally, I do not know any left-handed Chinese, but I think the discouragement of using the left-hand has to do with conformity rather than superstitions as in bad luck. The same issue of conformity can be found in Korea, and maybe Japan, where left-handers are encouraged to "fit-in" by using their right-hands when doing things.

My father is a left hander, but he was "trained" successfully to use right hand for everything, no problem. And his left hand is still great, amazing thing is that he can use two hands to write at the same time, something pretty much an envy from us.

Re: Type 95 assault rifle

The 95 rifle is ok, most complains are from those used to traditional rifles.

One thing worth to mention maybe its ammo. The 5.8mm ammo is made of steel to save the cost, samething as for its gun powder - a very cheap kind. So the rifle doesn't reach the presicion it can.

But it may not be a bad thing, considering the copper price jumps 4 fold in past two years, and today you need 250k bullets to ensure a kill, in Iraq. Back in good old days, a PLA soldiers only carried 30 rounds, in the war with Vietname only 800 rounds were needed for a kill.

I would argue that you don't actually *need* 250,000 bullets to ensure a kill in modern combat. It's about good ammo control and target selection.
