Bigger and longer submarine = bigger target for the enemy.. :p

Do they start mass producing it?

Bigger target?

Bigger and longer submarines---have more stores and provisions for armament. Bigger means more places to contain insulation to control noise. Note that a larger car is quieter than a smaller car. Bigger means more batteries to stay longer underwater. Bigger means a bigger and stronger frame to handle greater depth. Bigger means larger sonar arrays for longer ranged detection. Bigger means more computing equipment on board to analyze sonar signatures. Bigger means more comfort to the crew, which means greater work efficiency and morale.

Ok, But how about stealth against active sonar?

Use of anechoic coatings, you know like the black rubber tiles or layer applied on the submarine. Also design as well, like trying to put a more angular design on the top of the submarine. Notice how some submarines of late has a very clean and angular look at the top. The slant sides also reduce radar detection from the surface.

Is there such thing such as stealth submarine??

I just wonder how do the anti submarine helicopters or anti submarine aircraft (P3 Orion, etc) tracks submarines under water?

Do these have sonars? they are flying high in the air, how could they track submarines who are submerged deep in the seas?

Airborne ASW assets do utilize active and passive sonobuoys, wich descent to a predetermined depth. There they listen passively, or emit sonic waves. The collected data is then transferred through a cable to a small buoy floating at the surface and send to the aircraft via radio transmission.
Some buoy apperently even can detect temperature changes caused by a passing submarine (reactor cooling).
Helicopters can also hover over the sea and deploy a dip sonar connected to the helicopter via a winch.
The sub driver then has to recognize those and find a way around or through them.
Another method is to use a magnetic anomalie detector, wich senses anomalies in the earth magnetic field caused by the metallic submarine's hull. However, as of late, subs use antimagnetic steel, to circumvent this method.

Why China is not building any more 093? Are they waiting for the 095?
When would they feature the long range land attack cruise missile on the sub?

because you have to operate the existing subs for a little while to figure out where you need to improve

Re: PLAN submarines Thread II

latest pictures of the submarine tender from Guangzhou shipyard. Honestly, it's progress doesn't seem to be as fast as some of the other shipyards (namely HuDong), but it's still progress nicely. Looks like the large auxiliary ships like this submarine tender, the replenishment ships and hospital ships are all built by this yard.

This is kind of interesting, it says that China has a 092 second gen project and the 094 project. I think that means there was a second, improved 092 or that the 094 that we are seeing is actually Improved 092.
