[Looks like there are two Yuans getting fitted out. I'm assuming here that no JN 039B have been delivered to the navy yet.

But in that case A. Man's identification of the YUAN II in post # 1492 as Hull 6 is entirely correct?

In the picture you post just the bows pointing SE are seen. The CSSC badge on the fin certainly suggests a recently launched submarine, while the scaffolding around the fin of the YUAN II berthed under the crane, next to the launch basin, indicates that it has been fitting for a while. It is still accompanied by the barge which can be seen in the latest GE update 27.07.11 (i.e. shortly after the launch of JN 1).

Just read some of the comments on the original thread, looked like a model displayed in a school( and probably 092?).

Well it only looks like 12 tubes. I would like to think the 96 would get rid of the hump. Nice model though.

Not strictly PLAN subs, but this does give a good general indication of where China stands in terms of deep water submersible technologies.

Wait a sec. Did bbc say Japan held the record of deep sea dive at 6km. I thought James Cameron just did a 11km dive?
