Is there any hope that the Mings of post 90s/2000s will have some kind of updated equipment on the inside lacking in the older subs? I'm thinking the kind that would indeed keep an old sub to the pier for a few weeks while new wiring is installed etc.

On the one hand, I'm guessing they weren't planning on transferring to a new class. On the other hand, launching an 80s model sub in the 21st century with 80s electronics seems just silly. Even if they hadn't yet developed a completely new battle system.

if there are 2 flotillas for every fleet that means China has 6 flotillas? also how many submarines are there in a flotilla?

Mpelio just posted these picture of Chinese Sonobuoy. With the induction of Y8GX ASW they will drop this baby all over the straits of Miyako,Tsugaru and other choke point

The middle poster in the background had what looks like civilian commercial ships in the lower corner.

Just looks like a remote operated camera for MPAs. In the poster in the background, you can just about make out a control station on the far right.

The poster is too far away and the quality too poor to make out much of the writing. Hopefully, whoever took these shots also got some close ups of the posters. So we will know more once those start being put up.

Yes, six flotillas (plus 62 Submarine Flotilla). Each has 8 boats, except 22 which has 12. The names of the flotillas (but curiously not their bases) are in tphuang's article.
