The water line is not exactly at the level of the currently uppermost deck, but slightly below. Therefore, the length in the water line will be less than the length of the so far completed hull.

Debka and LiveLeak are reporting this, and I believe Pravda picked it up...but I think they all go back to Debka.

...but I have not seen one single picture to substantiate it...either in Tartus, or leading to Tartus.

The Liaoning would have had to transit either the Suez Canal or the Straits of Gibraltar.

Either would have been HUGE news in itself as she passed into the Med.

Did anyone hear anything about that?

I try and keep track of this stuff religiously, and have not seen one single pic of that or heard about it wither.

Now...perhaps she did...but I will believe it when I see it. not based on a report from Debka who is notoriously false in their claims almost to the point of being another WantChinaTimes..

New PLAN cloaking technology was installed on Liaoning before heading to Syrian port of Tartus! J-20 number 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015 and 2016 all seen flying over Syria now!

Seems like Debka is worse than WantChina, they are bascially blatantly making story up here.

There's no way Liaoning can realistically reach Tartus without no one knowing, so the fact that Debka said that already damages any credibility the article has. However there are separate reports that says China is sending combat forces into Syria, but the naval ships they are referring to are probably frigates, destroyers, etc.

Don't know if this guy Igor Morozov is serious or just another political loudmouth, but ...

If it is real, we would know soon . "Cruiser" is probably one of Type 052 destroyers , either C or D . This part seems plausible (China sends small flotilla to observe things off the Syrian coast ) . Part with Liaoning entering the fray ... well ... hard to believe until we see .
