I have a question. What type of missile do we see at 00:44 of this video?

I think that is the same missle that is in this pic:

And on the Flanker Thread they are calling it the YJ-83K.

I thought there was a discussion back in 2012 after the first landing and take off of the Liaoning that the hangar deck hasn't been enlarged and is the same as the original design.

Well the hangar wasn't enlarged in the direction of the former shipwreck missile VLS sites as some people had speculated in years past, that's because the VLS silos are way too forward of the hangar.

However this picture seems to show what seems to be the forward section of the hangar, and we can clearly see what appears to be an "L" shaped extension beyond where the existing hangar should have stopped in like the Kuznetsov's "square".

By contrast this is the Admiral Kuznetsov's hangar from the very aft looking to the bow (note the elevator bulkhead doors on the right in relation to the hangar's area, allowing us to identify orientation), and you can see that the forward section of the hangar ends in a square as depicted in Jeff's hangar drawing, and it lacks the forward "L" extension of the Liaoning.

Here is a picture of the Admiral K's hangar from the bow looking aft. We don't have a pic of the Liaoning's hangar in a similar orientation to compare.

Basically this is what I propose the forward hangar may have turned out like (via doctoring Jeff's excellent drawing)

Does anyone know how they test jet turbines in the Kutnetsov class or similar carriers. In US carriers this is typically done on the very aft of the ship where the work area is.

A question to this day still not answered - if they've removed the VLS there, what they re-purpose the vacated space into?

Long ago I searched and searched for that info and discovered that Russian CVs had no ability to test engines.

Here is a close up shot of the forward bulkhead. We know it is the forward bulkhead because we can see part of the door to the right. The picture shows no extension ahead of the original hangar.

Roomy crew quarters and other rest areas.

I just realized that what looked like an L shape extension was actually the flanker's right tail blending to appear as if it was the wall, and that the picture I posted was actually the rear elevator.

That makes much more sense now.

Hahah, the entire time, all I could think was, "What the heck is he seeing that I'm not???"
