Only 1 day military exercise is a little disappointing to Lai’s separatist provocation. Lai will continue his separatism if the punishment is not strong enough. Use of economic sanctions and lawfare should be ramped up.
also one day if bejing decide : time up

first they should "clean up" entire taiwan's semiconductor industry , lab , production facility , ...etc

no more TSMC lab and facility > the value of taiwan become much much less in the eyes of anyone that plan to rescue

I think the message is more to the US and their lapdogs than to Lai, Independence Means War. There is no ambiguity about it.

Its aimed at pinning the US.

Israel doesn't have the power to fight Iran on a level field alone, they need most of US air/naval generation power. They're lobbying the hardest possible for that in order to turn the war around.

China doesn't want US to directly fight Iran until Iran has been beefed up enough. So they send a message that if US commits the forces necessary to take Iran, a PLA counteroffensive will delete the KMT so fast that US won't even have time to pivot back from the middle east.
So therefore, US must tell Israel to sit down and just take it.

I'd bet that these manuevers were shared with US as far back as October 7.

I don't think China wants "clean up" civilian infrastructure, in fact I think the goal would be to the Island to return to "normalcy" as fast as possible. But if Ukranization of a conflict happens, a grinding war, then these facilities would go out of service pretty quickly without outside input.

China announced at 6:00 pm that it has concluded its Joint Sword-2024B military drills around Taiwan. Taiwan reports 125 Chinese planes around the country since 5am Monday. 17 Navy ships and 17 Coast Guard/patrol vessels were also reported.
