A few cherry picked and sanitised propaganda pieces prove nothing.

Or do you still think that pretty young lady from the 'voice of Ukraine' propaganda viral video is representative of the government and movement that slaughtered their fellow countrymen by the thousands?

I think the picture is meant to represent that the protesters are made up of 20somethings with bowl cuts.
I'm not sure if his (or is it her?) duck face is intentional.

Either way, they managed to choose a remarkably irritating face in their photo, good god. Without a scaled reference he looks like a very self satisfied twelve year old... ._.

Perhaps you would like to rethink the words you use to describe your fellow countryman.

Would even half of them openly admit being Chinese or rather HKers to indicate their so called superiority so they can look down on others? ;)

By using a propaganda posed shot, now it's more than obvious you don't live here.

But I do.

AND I don't, won't, never and no need to rethink my words or stance, because they give me no reason to.

Peaceful? Unarmed? Non-violent? Non-aggressive? Pfffff...Give me a break...

And let me tell you this: if the government issued a call for a civilian militia, with weapons issued (I don't mind if it's just a mosin nagant with just 5 rounds on a clip, all I need is bayonet) and full civil+criminal+legal indemnity status to its participants on operations to take back the streets, I can bet you for US$100 that folks in the thousands will sign up now, and so would I. We can only anger and vent our anger because we still have a life to lead and a keep to earn, thus not risking to ruin it all by breaking the law ourselves.

In the West, even a nation-wide general strike won't last indefinitely, and certainly won't last more than a week on end, 2 months and still going is just unthinkable, yet we average Joe have to grit our teeth amid such major disruption, maintain a semblance of order and keep the city functional. Yeah, did those insurgents ever think about anyone other than their own ranks?

"The people" they so claimed to fight for isn't an arbitrary concept, "the people" are flesh and blood with livelihood the insurgents so blatantly threatened, if not just disrupting. And thanks to their insistence to make it last as long as it'd take, we "the people" have no idea for how long we need to "tough it out", and what measures of recovery would be needed should and when this is over.

Yeah, they never think about us (like they claimed about the government), so why must I cut them any slack?

From the get go this 'protest' movement has been targeted at the western audience. Which shows that not only have those protesters forgotten their own roots, but also that they haven't got a clue. Who do they think they are and where do they think they live? China isn't some 3rd world banana republic or Ukriane that the west can push around or tipple at will.

For those protesters to seek western help to try and impose their puppeted will on Beijing and the rest of China is as retarded as it is treasonous.

It also betrays the movement's roots, since i am firmly in the camp of believing this was something hatched in Washington with the help or outright leadership from American PR spin doctors, politicians and intelligence officers.

That picture is supposed to appeal to and chime with western notions of what a good Chinese is supposed to look like, all goofy 'innocence' and western hipster wannaby with just enough 'Chineseness' to not make it all too obvious. Which is probably why its so irritating to most Chinese folk with an ounce of integrity and self respect.

Police officer beaten unconscious by rioters.

The restrain exercised by HK police is amazing. By Ferguson standard, live fire is justified in that situation.

If you tried grabbing a American/Canadian police officer's baton, you'd either get tasered, concussed or even shot dead. Those kids have obviously seen too few winters and live in fantasy land.

Amazing what a bunch of satisfied twelve year olds can do, isn't it? No matter what happens. Hong Kong has reach an inflection point.

No, it says he/she is a 22 year old, which is disconcerting given he/she looks 12. But whatever, can't judge one's taste in haircut or fashion. (Is manni even a male name or female name???)

Yes, it is amazing that they can drive 1.8 million signatures to rally against them, it is amazing they can wield the power to assault law enforcement officers with impunity, and it is amazing they can drive peoples like MwyRum to actively despise them.

I think the true inflection point is that we've reached a point where Beijing has learned how to handle these kind of movements. Foreign press aside, they've been remarkably offhand and lenient in their response given the initial scale and the plodding length of this movement.
Good for them.

Children have always been the most easy to dupe and manipulate, and once converted, also tend to be the most loyal and fanatical, there is also the added 'bonus' that shooting a child would give most people pause. Which is why certain sub-human (as defined by their actions, not their race or culture) love to use child soldiers.

What is happening in HK is little different, especially if the planners and instigators wanted to trigger a Tiananmen style crack down.

If you honestly think a bunch of spoilt brats could have done all this, you are clearly in denial or downright delusional, especially in the face of open and growing impatience to downright hostility by increasing numbers of real ordinary HKers - the people who's lives and livelihoods these brats and thugs are tramping all over with their spoilt selfishness and self serving idiocy.

HK and the rest of China has reached an inflection point and a decision long ago, and that was to firmly reject these puppets and idiots and everything they represent.

Only these idiots and/or their puppet masters in certain western countries are too stubborn or too delusional to see or recognise any of that. So they are turning to ever more desperate and transparent ploys to try and provoke a crack down or manufacture some incident that they think will allow them to somehow win back the hearts and minds of the very people who police have to physically keep from tearing them a new one in the streets.

If the protesters had any inkling of sense, they'd stop immediately and do the hard work of building the organizational work to influence the 2017 elections, before their antics causes the Hong Kong (and possibly wider Chinese public) people to transfer by association the unpopularity of OC with democracy in general.

Benny Tai and Jimmy Lai must be besides themselves that they let a bunch of high school students run the democratic movement onto the rocks.

All the OC is going to get from us in the West are a bunch of soundbites in the best of times (and there are a lot more important things that actually matter out there, like Ukraine, ISIS, etc. to worry about).
