This is so stupid. Carmakers are still changing their names to "western" names (like Dongfeng's Aeolus) thinking it'll make them high class when chinese consumers are in fact going the other way and prefer chinese names.

By the way, anyone know what's the shareholding of AITO? Wonder if Huawei is just a small minority holder or something like 50-50

They can use Chinese names domestically and western names abroad.

What are the first things that come to your mind when you see Trumpchi Empow? For me it’s this:

My first impression off the GAIC Trumpchi was not so good. On a second thought as you brought up, it would be fun driving a Trumpchi Empow in the south and telling my friends that it is purposefully designed and made in China for MAGA. To be honest, I don't have any bad feelings against Trump. He got 75mil legitimate votes. Since I have been living in this environment willingly, I truly respect local people's will for changes. They got Trump and the rest is history. Back to the SUV, as you know, "people love trucks!" It is just such a perfect fit into my current living environment:cool:

My BAD: Trumpchi Empow is actually a car. I thought Trumpchi was an exclusively SUV brand from GAIC. I am behind the Cantonese curve here :D :D

Byd jinan factory will come online in January 2023. The expected production level is 560k a year when fully ramped up.

What will it produce?
An existing dynasty series model will start producing here in January and eventually reached annualized production rate of 200k.

A new dynasty model will start production here in September next year with estimated production rate of 120k a year. I am surprised they will still be developing new dynasty models.

A new marine series model will start production here in August at rate of 120k a year.

A new denza model (likely the SUV displayed in Chengdu motor show) will start production here in February 2023. 120k a year.

For denza, they should be reaching 20k a month after this second model goes into production.

If you are wondering where the additional capacity is coming from, here is another plant for you.

They will cope by shutting down Tesla Germany and opening another gigafab in China, probably Shenzhen or Guangzhou.
Bro I don't understand why RIVIAN and LUCID didn't do a Tesla and open a Gigafactory in China? Is it all about American pride I mean PIE...lol Soon enough they may file for bankruptcy, maybe they're afraid of competition knowing how crap their products are. ;)

It's almost assured that Tesla will open up another giga location in China. Shanghai location after the second factory will be out of space. The most likely alternative for them will be Beijing or Jilin, because there is very established suppliers there. Tesla is just not adventurous enough to get into places without prior large automotive industrial base. It's not a BYD. At this point, it's pretty obvious that Giga shanghai is the reason Tesla is making profit.
