too much competition.

Alright, I went to a mall today with many EV stores.

NIO had by far the best offering in terms of the customer service. I think ES6 is a really nicely designed car. ET9 didn't blow me away in person, which is sad. ES6 is also the model I see far away the most on the street among NIO cars.

Li Auto didn't do all the added frills that NIO had, but sales agent was really top notch and gave me great answers to everything, including why MEGA Home is doing well and told me that i6 is coming after i8 and showed me their nation wide superchargers.

Huawei store was more for their consumer devices than their cars. I can see why S9 doesn't sell better. There is just limited market for a car with 4 large seats. You don't get that kind of car for families. I thought R7 is really nice looking, but it doesn't sell better for some reason. I also tried all their foldable phones. Btw, Honor's new foldable phone is actually supposed to be thinner, but Huawei is the king of foldable phones. Pura X was pretty well designed when I saw it in person. of course, Mate XT is still the star.

Zeekr store was pretty empty when I got there. They told me that 007GT & 7X are selling the best and showed me features of 009, but it's not full featured as MEGA Home. If you have the money, definitely get MEGA Home. Looks like they are placing a lot of hope on 9X.
R7 is about to get a facelift, honestly will look better than the current R7, which is not very good looking.

Any reason why BYD sales is down in July compared with previous year?
Despite BYD's numbers are down year-over-year, it's actually normal seasonal change for many automaker's sales to drop in July in China. Meanwhile, BYD was the top selling brand in 7 overseas markets in the first half of 2025.

Unlike the idiotic iCar V23 which doesn't has a spare tire even as an option, Chery's global SUV iCar V27 (called iCaur V27 overseas) looks like a real off-road 4x4.

Personally I don't think Huawei is going to succeed unless they take over operations and launch under Huawei

Their strategy of spawning 5-6 JV brands is just not a long term sustainable strategy.

HIMA is not JV. Each of 5 HIMA OEMs is an independent business, none of which has equity by Huawei. HIMA model is new in the auto industry, which is somewhere between Bosch and OEM and is more like ODM in the electronics business. BTW, ODM is the secret weapon that Foxconn (Hong Hai Precision) beat likes of Sanmina SCI and Flextronics. One major difference is that (1) ODM such as Foxconn did not have technologies that OEMs did not possess or master, rather it was an economical model and a supplier chain revamp; (2) HIMA has technologies and solutions that ICE auto OEMs don't have, and Huawei has experience in high-end branding that those Chinese ICE auto OEMs don't have.

In the long run, after HIMA brands establish themselves as viable luxury auto OEMs, Huawei is going to evolve more like Bosch than OEM. Go research on "

" and you may get the idea. Yes, HIMA is going to be "深圳引望", not Huawei.
