Byd isn't going to have a monopoly. China is too big of a market. I think they are likely to end up with something close to 40% of domestic market like Toyota in Japan. That actually would be a seismic change in global car market.

We are already seeing chery and geely relying on export markets for continued growth. The big problem is facing these legacy automakers in china that have prospered through jvs. If you are china, you want domestic brand to do well. However, the local government in jilin, Beijing and Shanghai aren't going to like seeing their auto industry suffer. So the best outcome is for these large automakers to sell their assets to byd or geely or Huawei as they become less profitable.

I think this solely pointing to the US and maybe US+Canada market. In fairness, the popular of Hyundai/Kia has ramped up, especially in the past year. The US EV market seems to lack competition as the main players outside of Tesla are just beginning to ramp up deliveries. The models offered seem to be somewhat lacking as well either in price or in features.

Honestly, here in Canada I've seen the number of Hyundai and Kia skyrocket in the past few years, even in small towns where the only dealership is a Ford or GM. Especially EVs. In fact practically the only EVs I'vs seen that's not a Tesla are Kia and Hyundai (outside the rare Mach-E). And they aren't even cheap.

That's the good thing about giving up control of your government and military to the US. You get market access to the US.

Well, that'll depend on US's mood for the day. If Trump get in when it's 2024, all bets are off again and tariffs back in. Let's not forget that just a few years ago Trump killed Bombardier because their CSeries beat Beoing 737 Max for Delta's orders (not that it's really difficult in the first place, all it needs to do is fly.) Despite this most people here hasn't quite woken up to the new reality yet.

Huawei has two NEV joint ventures. One is with the automaker Changan and the battery maker CATL, and the brand of this company is called Avatr. However, Huawei's main NEV joint venture is with the automaker Seres Group, they form a company called Aito. The first vehicle of the company, Aito M5, uses Huawei's HarmonyOS operating system. Below are some information about M5.

Huawei/Seres Group is building a new factory in Chongqing with a planned annual output of up to 700,000.

Tesla is losing market share in China.

Keep in mind that there are many markets byd simply have not entered. It would be hard for Koreans automakers to get wiped out of ev space if byd doesn't enter these market. For geopolitical reasons, you probably won't see byd in America for a while, but maybe it will try Canada. That's my hope. There is so little competition in Canada that byd would just clean up if they start to sell there.
