New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) in China

And 99% of the population has no actual need for an extra fuel tank for extremely long-range desert journeys.

These all tend to be vehicles produced in low quantities. Look at how lorries/trucks are like 2% the size of the passenger car fleet.

And it's a good thing that battery technology is improving rapidly in terms of capacity and also rapid charging.
But even today, the cars can handle over 90% of normal use cases.
Yeah, and I can see hydrogen fuel cell vehicles replacing even the rest of the use case for ICE vehicles. Also, with advancements in solar panels, BEVs can potentially be even more suited for long-range desert journeys and such. Even with external fuel tanks there's still a limit to how much fuel you can carry. There is no limit to sunshine, particularly not in the desert.

Yeah, FCEV will be able to replace the areas where BEVs cannot. ICE vehicles will have a hard time in China in 10 years. If the infrastructure is all setup for EVs, there just isn't much reason to stick it out with ICE cars. Keep in mind that EVs are inherently just safer than ICE cars. It's just simpler with less area that can fail.

Anyway, BYD is definitely getting more Western attentions now.

Dealers in Singapore are now showing Atto 3 to people
Keep in mind that with COE, cars are very expensive in Singapore. I think it would be very hard for Atto 3 to undercut competitors. With COE, atto3 costs around 180k SGD!!!!! COE itself is almost 110k. Even at 70k SGD, this is pretty highly priced. Maybe, it will get some rebate. But if you can sell in Singapore, you are going to make a huge profit.

If I were BYD, I'd quickly push out Seal to Singapore. That will sell well.
Speaking of the Seal, it will be officially launched on the 18th

Because a good road network is a prerequisite to economic development.
Then the population becomes rich enough to afford cars.
offroad vehicles are sold in countries with relatively wealthy population. It is there robust construction, modifications, towing that make them desirable. since batteries are located under. there is no way protection can be provided like engine high up in the vehicle.
it expensive and 2 months wait for rear damage Tesla Model 3. it is highly unlikely body on frame vehicle will get such damage and will be out of action for two months.

You are missing the forest for the trees. Tell me, how many Land Cruisers are sold each year vs. Corolla, Camry, or Highlander? That's even considering that most people that buy off-roader SUVs never actually take them off roads.

In wealthy countries off-roader SUVs are just giant toys. People typically have at least one everyday car, which has great potential to be electric.

I'm not sure why there is still this argument about off-roader having to be ICE when BYD is going release a EV version next year. BYD does not make up bullshit.

On a separate topic, this is the market for > 300k SUVs and Sedans in China.
I think Denza brand will make a splash here next year.

Besides the fact that pmc is just stubborn, mostly talking to himself and ignoring all other facts and arguments, EV is a threat to Russia's hydrocarbon energy export and climate change is a net plus for Russia by opening the Northern Corridor (

). Understand this, it's not difficult to understand why most Russians consciously resist the idea of and arguments for clean energy, EV and all those related to climate change.
