Re: Movies in General/ Star Trek etc etc

Just watched GI Joe. Wasn't planning to but a friend wanted to see it. It was okay but there were a whole lot of little problems that bugged me. The guy who plays Duke always had this Billy Dee Williams soulful way of speaking that was so off-putting. It was like he was trying to sell Colt 45 beer to everyone. He even kept it up during action scenes. While Marlons Wayons was screaming, he had a cool way of expressing his excitement. So strange. Don't see any acting awards for this guy anytime soon.

My friend said comic books are rebooting everything. He told me about the GI Joe reboot. It sounded more exciting than this movie.

I've seen hurt locker on Friday. I liked that movie really. It's about an US army blaster (demolition expert?) defusing IEDs in Iraq.
He joins a unit there after their original blaster got killed. He's really wired already and seems to like the adrenalin rush, wich is why he has problems acting together with the other team members from the beginning. For him, his job is the only thing that matters to him. Interesting ending also, but don't want to tell it now.
I thought it was really authentic. Nice story and well told, I think.

Yes they show Cobra Commander by the end. But he's not any of the incarnations you're use to because this is a "reboot."

Yes, but not as covered as in the cartoon. Throughout the movie you see the guy who becomes Cobra Commander and you see his disfigurement and they explain it which was pretty lame to me. His face is half-covered. In the end he puts on a face mask but I thought it looked bad simply because it ended up looking like some guy wearing a halloween mask because you can see him through the eye-holes.

just watched district 9, it's a very good movie. 2 things:

1) i want a pig-flinging gravity gun
2) aliens aren't so advance after all, still using binary system for their computer.
