majoring in humanities or social science is how you min-max your opportunity to become homeless and/or selling yourself as a prostitute. either the sexual or propaganda kind.

That’s a feature, not a bug.

To be peak effective at propaganda, one needs to be utterly without morals, principles, scruples, self respect or a sense of shame; yet at the same time one needs to be well educated, articulate and charismatic. Essentially, you need street-scum level bottom-feeder personality traits with ‘well-bred’ high-class education and upbringing.

These two aspects are usually contradictory and rarely found in the same individual, because while true street trash bottom feeders easily have all of the character flaws of the personal specification part of the job spec, they won’t have the educational and charisma requirements for the technical aspects of the job spec. High-borne elites have all the advantages of education and upbringing, but that education and upbringing generally also teaches them class and self respect so they will struggle to lower themselves to do street-scum level deeds.

And this is where humanities, media studies and other totally invented and utterly useless degrees comes in.

These worthless and useless courses are both a filtering process as well a prepping tool. To do well in these sorts of subjects, you need to be able to be mentally and morally ‘flexible’ to believe and say whatever is required to get the best grades. Objective truth and reality is actively discouraged. Any training on the use and interpretation of empirical evidence is focused more on twisting it to suit the required narrative than to try to extract any scientifically valuable insight and understanding.

At the end of their studies, the most suitable get cherry picked for government positions while the rest can ’mature’ some more in growing ever more desperate as student loan debts and lack of career opportunities and a never-ending media diet of influencers flaunting their millionaire lifestyles start to systematically erase their scruples, morals and anything else that might hold them back from being a well-educated sociopath, at which point they finally ready to start their career in propaganda by starting in the media.

China is bad at propaganda because they don’t put their best and brightest through such a crucible of moral eraser. Indeed, the Chinese system focuses on weeding out the sociopaths early and limiting their reach and influence, not produce them on an industrial scale and putting them in the top government and media jobs.

Another big factor is that while the press secretary is one of the most influential people in the White House, with a direct role in deciding how the government respond to issues and sets government policy on key national and international issues, in China, they actually decide policy and approach based purely on what is best for China’s national interest and try to sell that. So of course they are going to have a harder time winning social media points compared to western government policy set from the offset to generate likes instead of benefits for the country and people.

That is why while the west is supposedly ‘winning’ the propaganda war, their people grow ever more disillusioned and dissatisfied with their governments while Chinese people’s lives gets better and their trust and approval of their leaders increase as a result. You decide which approach and outcome you prefer.

He is not arrogant but unaware.
Naah. I've seen enough posts from him to judge that he is arrogant. He always assuming that China is gonna just like that Jai Bharat Superpowah nation or Russia. He wants China to behave itself in this current "rules based international order". He doesn't like China challenging this order, even if it is legitimate. He assumes that the West is always gonna win if China starts to confront them. Pro hint, any nation that bends to Western pressure will automatically lose, and will lose more than they bargained for. Japan, France, Germany, Russia, Libya, Iraq, etc.

He says that China's next leadership is gonna be the doom of China, as if the Chinese are gonna vote a Chinese version of Modi. That for me is ignorance. Then when confronted by other members, he refuses to engage in a proper debate, changes topics, and is wholly unapologetic. He then walks out of a debate and speaks as if he knows more than his challengers. That to me is arrogance.

New Cold War has already started. It is just the cost of decoupling from China is so great that the Western powers don't have the stomach to implement the full scale assaults.

Western powers have tried to portray China is the aggressor for years. Whatever China does or doesn't do won't change this narrative. People buying the Western propaganda would always support the West.

Just look at what happened in Taiwan strait and Philippines for the last few years. There is no accident that the US is trying to provoke and contain China just as it did to the Russia for the NATO eastward expansion.

China fights back, China being portrays as aggressor. China doesn't fight back, the US and its allies would escalate and commit salami slice tactics just as they did to Russia.

At the end of the day, most of the world fall under the US sphere of influence and many people can be easily manipulated. That's why even as the West has been the biggest aggressors for more than a few centuries, people still think positive of the West.

It is not to say China shouldn't engage and support the global south and address some of their concerns. However, China can't be expected to single-handedly fight the Western influence and win the heart and mind of the world when the rest of the world and many the local elites were too embedded with the West.

China isn't going to sacrifice its national interests to appease anyone or being see as a good guy. China might not want to be a superpower or have any interests in toppling any governments but for countries that decided to join the West to contain China then these countries should expect that China would retaliate and fight back. China isn't a hello kitty and people shouldn't expect China being one.

Panda bears may be cute and eat bamboo, but they are still a big bear with claws. But if you don't poke the panda you'll be fine. Poke the panda, fuck around and find out.

Had the USSR trusted China as an partner, it would have been able to sustain the Cold War with the West with far less strain on its economy.
I havent studied situation that time but highly likely if China still partnered with USSR it would not have received Western support and ultimately both will have stagnated anyway,
but one thing is clear Gulf Arabs were against Soviet communist party not just because they were communist but they have Turkic inside in power. and that include Afghan of 1980s. when Japanese PM says that Saudi are leader of Islamic world. what does it mean in practical terms?. it means Japan will not do any business in Turkic states or Iran without consulting Gulf Arabs. think about this thing. Even today Gulf Arabs can rolled up entirely of SCO by tweaking some things. and thats reason Russia keep certain distance from Afghan as it can reveal things about Arabs to Turks.

— Representatives of the Taliban have been in Moscow since the beginning of the week. What are they doing here for so many days? Dating someone else? Maybe they even have a cultural program?

— The Afghan embassy should be largely responsible for the program of the Taliban’s stay in Moscow. I invited them to the Kazan meeting of the Moscow format. And all my meetings with them will take place in Kazan. We are also not involved in a cultural program for the Taliban. We are not in this area. And they will “walk” when life gets better in Afghanistan
