Germany's lower house of parliament, the Bundestag, held closed-door sessions on Monday to debate investigations into a coup plot by extremists linked to the far-right Reichsbürger movement and QAnon conspiracy theorists. The revelations about the group's alleged plot to overthrow Germany's government have sparked widespread outrage, with a former member of parliament among those accused of taking part. On Monday, three special committee sessions were held in the Bundestag behind closed doors. The legal affairs committee and the interior affairs committee were holding meetings where Chancellor Olaf Scholz's government and federal prosecutors will deliver "reports and results" from the raids and provide further information about the operations. In a third session, lawmakers posed questions to the parliamentary control committee, which is responsible for Germany's domestic and foreign intelligence services.

Presumably by selling it at way below market prices?

The problem is that gas can be pretty easily stored and China can still switch to gas by land route if America commits any aggression. So even if China during peacetime relies on American gas, they can cut it off anytime they want.

Gas can be stored, but as Europe is finding out, the volumes that can be stored doesn’t last long with normal consumption if alternative sources could not be found. And as Europe is also finding out the hard way, gas production could not be easily or quickly ramped up in the volumes needed to replace a major supplier overnight.

The fundamental problem with American gas is that it’s far more expensive to extract than traditional sources in Russia and the ME. Add in the shipping costs of getting it to Asia or Europe and it’s completely uncompetitive in price. It’s only economically viable in America due to government subsidies and the same high shipping costs of moving gas from the ME and Europe.

But it’s idiotic to think America could ever corner the Chinese gas market. Too much time has already been wasted on this smooth brain motion.
