’s ruling coalition failed Monday to secure a majority in the 248-seat upper house in a crucial parliamentary election, further shaking the stability of his government as Japan faces challenges such as rising prices and high U.S. tariffs.

Ishiba’s Liberal Democratic Party and its junior coalition partner Komeito, which needed to win 50 seats on top of the 75 seats they already have to retain their majority, won 47 seats. It was three seats short of a majority and a retreat of 19 seats from before the vote.

The loss is another blow to Ishiba’s coalition, making it a minority in both houses following its October defeat in the lower house election, and worsening Japan’s political instability. It was the first time the LDP-led coalition has lost a majority in both houses of parliament since the party’s formation in 1955.

God is an inanimate concept that requires the church to manipulate to the masses, and they can say whatever and wash their hand away. In the dictatorship, the leader is responsible. A church cannot fail, because it is all god's will they are technically not doing anything. It is very easy to wash their hand away.

This is difference between western faith based politics and classical monarchs like ancient China. Leaders are judged for their performance, no washing hand away. If life sucks, it is the emperor's fault. Not god telling me suffer is good.

According to the SCMP article, the paint was actually more expensive than the food coloring. The staff used paint allegedly because they wanted the colors to be brighter. In fact, most of the school's staff consumed the lead-tainted food just like the students did.

So there was no financial motive or "corruption" at the school. It was just plain stupidity.
