Perhaps China is still dealing with these types of bozos that have firmly entrenched itself writ large in all of society that's difficult to be uprooted for Xi Jinping to remove within 10 years of his tenure. Hence him announcing and having to do away with the unspoken 10 year limit since he could have just been WAITED out by the very mongrels that causing the system to rot. I truly believe that if the U.S. had been patient and cerebral with its approach in dealing with China's CPC, they could have done a spectacular damage to the legitimacy and rule of the party due to it's own INCOMPETENCE AND CORRUPTION!!

Thank the heavens, that the PARTY ITSELF recognized its errors and hubris that it appointed Xi as their next leader tasked with the herculean effort to root out corruption that has permeated and embedded at all levels!!

Ideology does matter and so do character, and integrity. The CPC is simply lucky that the U.S. in it's haste to undermine China simply lost patience and thanks to its unequalled incompetence equalled by its arrogance that China has been spared the worst!!

I happen to agree (not all) from the observations made by @Captaincool made on his YouTube channel and texts posted on the subreddit: Whampoa military:

Captaincool07 (黃永熙): The Cultural Revolution really screwed us hard. Nearly every major modern social ill facing China today can be traced back to the unnecessary destruction unleashed during the Cultural Revolution (1966–1976) and the domino effect afterwards.

Gansu is a poor province, naturally there will be more probability of corruption. Allegedly this was kicked off by cafeteria staff buying industrial paint to use as food colouring. This was signed off by the principal as a cost saving measure.
So, why the need to colour the food so artificially in the first place? Is the budget sufficient or was this more corruption? Although the coverup cannot be forgiven, these are some questions that should also be asked.
If we remember the Michigan lead poisoning water from 10 or so years ago, basically it was also the town being poor and not wanting to buy water piped in from the Great Lakes.

Given they are literally poisoning kids and demographics are already a problem, the death sentence should be mandatory.

TOKYO (AP) —

’s ruling coalition failed Monday to secure a majority in the 248-seat upper house
in a crucial parliamentary election, further shaking the stability of his government as Japan faces challenges such as rising prices and high U.S. tariffs.

Ishiba’s Liberal Democratic Party and its junior coalition partner Komeito, which needed to win 50 seats on top of the 75 seats they already have to retain their majority, won 47 seats. It was three seats short of a majority and a retreat of 19 seats from before the vote.

The loss is another blow to Ishiba’s coalition, making it a minority in both houses following its October defeat in the lower house election, and worsening Japan’s political instability. It was the first time the LDP-led coalition has lost a majority in both houses of parliament since the party’s formation in 1955.

Yet Ishiba is soldering on as PM.

Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba says he will remain in office after his ruling coalition suffered a defeat in upper house elections, prompting some of his own party to deliberate his future as the opposition weighed a no-confidence motion.

The "far-right" political party in Japan is gaining political ground.

But on Sunday, Sanseito emerged as one of the biggest winners of Japan's election - walking away with 14 seats.

The party was born in 2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic, where it gained prominence with YouTube videos that spread conspiracy theories about vaccinations.

More recently, it has built its platform on a nationalist "Japanese First" agenda, warning against a "silent invasion of foreigners".

Sanseito's rise in popularity reflects growing unease over immigration and overtourism - issues the ruling government also sought to address with a new committee it created days before the election.
Don't trust any Donald Trump wannabe. When voters are miserable, they tend to turn to right-wing populism.

Who is gonna do the grunt work if you expel all the foreigners? Do the Trump wannabes seriously think the supply of 70 year old taxi drivers and janitors will last forever?

Even in the worst case (North Korea), the party is still preferable to god. God is an inanimate concept that requires the church to manipulate to the masses, and they can say whatever and wash their hand away. In the dictatorship, the leader is responsible. The word of a dictator is broadcasted directly without manipulation. If the dictator is always wrong, he would be discredited, and so he is responsible. God is never wrong, if he is 'wrong', it is merely the church guys lying about god's word. God never said that. And god never broadcast anything, it is always humans giving messages. The messenger can be discredited, never god itself. A dictator has no such luxury. People hear his words directly. If kim fail consistently, it will be very hard sustain his influence. A church cannot fail, because it is all god's will they are technically not doing anything. It is very easy to wash their hand away.

This is difference between western faith based politics and classical monarchs like ancient China. Leaders are judged for their performance, no washing hand away. If life sucks, it is the emperor's fault. Not god telling me suffer is good.

Deities, cults of personality, political doctrines, religious canon, and the bureaucracies of the party, state and church all got one thing in common: they're all manmade.

You're clearly aware that religious organizations and political parties — as well as the beliefs and the ideologies sitting upstream — share significant overlap in form and function, but I get why you might prefer one over the other.

In fact, there was a time when I would've agreed with you that certain political ideologies (e.g. "scientific communism") were more objective, "real" and pragmatic than; and therefore, superior to their "imaginary" religious counterparts.

For better or worse, the "software" is only going to be as good as the people running them, and while the "architecture" is nominally different between these two competing form factors, the user base are generally speaking equally fallible and flawed.

The worst part is, the principal ate the food too and got lead poisoning.

According to the SCMP article, the paint was actually more expensive than the food coloring. The staff used paint allegedly because they wanted the colors to be brighter. In fact, most of the school's staff consumed the lead-tainted food just like the students did.

So there was no financial motive. It was just plain stupidity.
