February 20, with the Chinese civil aviation chartered planes landing at Nanjing Lukou International Airport in Jiangsu Province, Myanmar repatriated the first batch of 200 Chinese suspects of extortion in the Myawaddy region to China, and they were escorted by the public security organs of China through Thailand. This operation is a significant landmark result of law enforcement cooperation between China, Myanmar and Thailand, fully demonstrating the firm determination of the three countries to jointly combat transnational crimes such as telecommunication network fraud and jointly maintain regional security and stability.

  In response to the current serious situation of telecommunication network fraud in Myanmar's Myawaddy region, the Ministry of Public Security has continued to strengthen law enforcement cooperation with Myanmar and Thai law enforcement authorities, and has made every effort to promote joint efforts to combat the crime. At the end of January this year, with the strong support of Chinese embassies and consulates in Thailand and Myanmar, the Ministry of Public Security sent a working group to Thailand and Myanmar to hold several rounds of talks and consultations with law enforcement departments of the two countries, and to reach a consensus on further strengthening China-Myanmar-Thailand law enforcement cooperation, exploring the establishment of a joint mechanism for combating crime, and jointly combating transnational crimes such as telecommunication network fraud, human trafficking and other crimes.




  On February 20, as the chartered plane of China Civil Aviation landed at Nanjing Lukou International Airport in Jiangsu Province, 200 Chinese suspects involved in fraud in Myanmar's Myawaddy region were escorted back to China by our public security authorities via Thailand. This operation is a landmark result of law enforcement cooperation between China, Myanmar and Thailand, demonstrating the firm determination of the three countries to jointly combat transnational crimes such as telecom network fraud and maintain regional security and stability.

  Recently, the police of China, Myanmar and Thailand have increased their efforts and joined hands to carry out focused crackdowns on telecommunication network fraud crimes in the Myawaddy region. Thailand has taken measures such as disconnecting electricity, internet and oil in the Myawaddy area, strengthening inspection and control at the Thai-Myanmar border, and resolutely blocking the channels for smuggling and transferring people involved in fraud. Myanmar deployed to carry out centralized investigation of the electric fraud park in Myawaddy area, arresting suspects involved in fraud and rescuing trapped Chinese citizens. Through the close collaboration and joint efforts of the three sides, significant progress has been made in the fight against fraud, and a large number of suspects involved in fraud in the Myawaddy region of Myanmar have been arrested. 20 February, the Myanmar side repatriated the first batch of 200 suspects of Chinese nationals involved in fraud to Mae Sot, Thailand, and the Ministry of Public Security organized the police of Jiangsu public security organs to carry out the task of chartered flights for the escort, and all the relevant persons were escorted back to China. Located in the heart of the Taklimakan Desert in the Tarim Basin, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, the well, known as "Shenditake 1," is a scientific exploration project.

JOHANNESBURG, Feb. 20 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi discussed China-Russia relations with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov Thursday on the sidelines of the Group of 20 (G20) Foreign Ministers' Meeting in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, said that the China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination for a new era is advancing to a higher level and broader dimensions.
The two sides have maintained steady progress in mutually beneficial cooperation and engaged in close and effective strategic coordination, playing a crucial role in safeguarding the common interests of both countries and their peoples while advancing the process of global multipolarity, Wang said.
China is willing to work with Russia to fully implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state and to further advance China-Russia relations in the new year, he added.
Lavrov, for his part, said that Russia is willing to work with China to strengthen high-level exchanges, deepen practical cooperation in economy, trade, finance, culture, and other fields, and promote the further development of the China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination.

Comparing reserves with much bigger countries like China and Brazil is misleading.

The main difference is Ukraine is located in Europe and is considered a strategic resource for the EU. Yes other countries have more but the Ukraine is a short distance away and could be depended upon if there were any problems with shipping or something similar.

I think the agreement is symbolic more than anything, most reserves are located in territory America is planning to cede to Russia. It'll push the Ukrainians to agree to whatever peace deal Trump and Putin come to and serve as a template for future American deals with European countries will be like.
