Seems like I was right with intelligence involved in passport case ;) Iran seems reasonable as European countries decided to reveal the identities they were using which meant that they weren't from NATO countries.

Re: World News Thread & Breaking News!!

If the aircraft was destroyed by a bomb at altitude or if it hit the sea, either violently or "softly", there should be plenty of debris. That debris should have been found by now. So did it fly on to Vietnam or back to Malaysia and crashed on land? It should have been seen by radar but even if not we expect a big fire from all that fuel on board or, if the fuel tanks were not broached, we expect to hear from survivors. So what happened?????

The sea is very huge compare to the largest debris field. If you don't know where to look, finding it would still take a long time.

A Malaysian official revealed in a news briefing this afternoon that they aren't Asian looking and one of them look like an Italian.

I thought the Malaysian dude said the guy in question looked like Mario ballotelli. Which means African appearance

Thailand extended the location of the seach to the andoman sea. Andeman sea is over 800 kms to the west of the route from Kuala lumpar to Beijing. If the plane was still on route off of Vietnam's Ca Mau pennisula as early reports seem to indicate, then the plane would have to turn 90 degrees to the left and stay in the air and travel at crusing speed for an hour to reach Andeman sea afterwards.

If the plane could travel for an hour after last known position, it could be anywhere in an area of well over 2 million square kilometers. That's 1/4 the size of mainland china.

Talk about racial profiling gone wrong LOL. Why play with words? What does not-Asian looking even mean? Why not just say what you think you saw? I mean is the guy Caucasian looking, African looking, Asian, Indian, Native looking etc? What??!? did he have blond hair, blue eyes?
Last I check there are a lot of countries with similar looking features as well. I mean Italian looking for example is basically meaningless.
What if you're Asian American? African American? or Asian Australian, Asian Peruvian (lots of Asians there)? or a white African or Indian American (not to be confuse with American Indian)? and we're only talking the US. I'm sure other countries have their fair share of different races albeit not as diverse as the US.

An airliner enroute to Hong Kong reported a large debris field off Ho Chi Minh City.

Ok, the audio wasn't very good. I probably misheard the conversation entirely - I heard him saying some Italian name and assume it to be that of an Italian actor.

Missing Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370: 'Mario Balotelli' Lookalikes had Stolen Passports
By Gianluca Mezzofiore March 10, 2014 12:44 PM

Malaysia's civil aviation chief Azharuddin Abdul Rahman has suggested that the two passengers who were travelling on stolen passports on the missing Malaysia Airlines MH370 looked like black Italian footballer Mario Balotelli.

The aviation chief dismissed earlier reports that the two were Asian-looking but refused to elaborate.

"I can confirm that he is not a Malaysian, but cannot divulge which country he is from yet," he said, hinting that revealing their identity could hinder the investigation.

A reporter asked Rahman to say "roughly" what they looked like. The aviation chief replied: "Do you know a footballer by the name of [Mario] Balotelli?"

The bizarre comment triggered puzzled response on Twitter:

Rahman confirmed that the search are is being widened and said all the security procedures were complied with.

The Financial Times has exclusively reported that the Thai travel agency that booked the tickets for the men had been asked to arrange the travel by an Iranian middleman.

The two were travelling from Kuala Lumpur with an Italian and an Austrian passport that had belonging to Luigi Maraldi and Christian Kozel. The passports were included in the stolen list of the Interpol's database but managed to pass immigration control.

The one-way tickets with those names were issued from a travel agency in Pattaya, eastern Thailand.

The agency made the bookings through a China Southern Airlines office in Bangkok.

Re: Malaysia Airlines Plane is Missing

I heard on the radio that the two men using the stolen passports had specified the cheapest flight to Amsterdam and hadn't asked for a specific flight from KL to anywhere.
