You guys are so high tech with your drones everywhere to take out ATGM teams.

By now PLA must have detailed maps of every nook of Taiwan. If Apple/Google can do this, certainly it's not beyond the capability of the PLA.

Taiwan has Javelin, AT-4, M72, APILAS, and TOW. All of these have known flight patterns (direct fire, top attack), aiming requirements, and max range. I think the longest range is Javelin at ~4km.

It will be known in advance where the optimum firing positions are within the city for all types. Of course this would exclude hasty positions, but which buildings to avoid are obvious. Recon forces/Spec Ops will operate forward of the main landing party and verify certain forward targets in the expected direction of advance. You don't need drones for any of this.

ATGM teams holed up in buildings don't require fancy drones. PLL-05 is amphibious and most likely be part of the landing element. It basically made for this. It outranges any ATGM and can fire indirect or direct. Using Beidou or laser, you can call for fire and blow out any ATGM team without waiting for drones.

Drones would be useful for real time surveillance of the changing battlefield conditions and tracking movements of elements. Also would be useful for mopping up insurgents. However, you don't need fancy swarms or anything, just smart warfighting is enough.

@Jason_ yeah do that and you lost Taiwan forever.
unfortunately, the sentiment among the Chinese netizens is to take the island without the island population surviving the onslaught.
the Taiwanese regime has so successfully alienated and angered the Mainland people to the point that they no longer consider Taiwanese as blood brothers and sisters, just traitors to be dealt with harshly!!
look at the scorn and insults the TW government-led internet warriors heaped on China at the start of the COVID at Wuhan, and their open declaration that masks would be offered to any country and their dogs EXCEPT China.
Such open unrestrained hostility would naturally breed hatred in return.

Apart from some extremists, the vast majority of Chinese do not want to see bloodshed in Taiwan.

However, and this is a big one, if push comes to shove and armed conflict becomes inevitable, the strategic geography of Taiwan is far more valuable than its economic output.

yet again a reason for an immediate permanent ban
Taiwanese are still Chinese though (culturally different, but there's also a lot of difference culturally between Chinese).

With that said, rather than cleansing I foresee a lot of the traitors leaving Taiwan (like some Hong Kongers) and some of the few more staunt traitors in jail.

@solarz hi bro good day, what the Russian had done is a tactic worth imitating especially in Taiwan, for me the Taiwanese know they're defeated, but how much suffering can they endure and what about its aftermath. IF we follow the US shock and awed tactic and see the end result, are they worth emulating especially IF your end goal is a peaceful reunification?

My thesis is based on actual people which is my brother in law, he know the situation and I think there are a large silent majority who want to maintain the status quo. And IF the Chinese do invade after studying this Ukrainian conflict it will be mostly done using decapitation strike of key leadership and landing of forces in key strategic bases, leaving the city for fifth column to operate and govern. It's a cheap way to win a war and use those missile and armaments in US bases in Japan, SK and GUAM. As I said why destroy something you owned and why severely punished your kin, the sin of the few doesn't justify the persecution of all.

And watching the Ukrainian War for a month now, where are the so called resistance, we are used to hear that a majority of Ukrainian hate the Russian and they will fight fiercely, well I see otherwise and they are more afraid of their owned troops, it only show that the Western propaganda are full of shit and that is also true in Taiwan.

I don't know what internet crowds you've been hanging with but most people in the mainland still want peaceful reunification. They would rather not fight if possible, but if needed will fight if called on.

I doubt mainlanders are truly ready to accept another 23.5 million higher status citizens who will enjoy more privileges than them when the conditions of peaceful reunification are revealed.

What higher status citizen lol?

Taiwan will be governed differently than on the mainland (with different laws and the likes) and it will take time before full integration (gonna need decades).
