Congrats to SAC and an interesting side by side with F-35A, though the angles are off. I must say I enjoy the sleek look of the J-35A better. Very eager to learn and see more of the weapons bay, here's to hoping we get some open bay shots during the debut!

Just realized that it uses the same retractable luneburg lens as the ones on later batches of J-20.

Hi,
by officially acknowledged by PlAAF about J35As, probably time
for Middle Eastern countries to make up their mind to start ordering
down the line, another negotiation tool given by China for these countries
to USA for making mind to supply F35 otherwise their is an option
open for J35 even for countries like Algeria who been offered SU57
thank you

So how do we define the status of the 35A currently? It doesn't count as LRIP right? So technically still in the prototyping stage or what?
Depends, in reality LRIP may well have been started for some time and for all we know there may be a few units doing field tests with the initial batch right now.

However, currently we have no direct evidence that these are indeed happening, and based on what we know are facts (AKA that the PLAAF admits that J35A exists and shows like 2 photos of what is most likely a prototype), it would be prudent to assume that it is still in the prototyping stage until more information comes down the pipe

Don't know why some people are questioning why the PLAAF is getting it too. Isn't it a good thing? The more the merrier.

Some people think J35 is a symbol of the backward, corrupt, inefficient and collusive remnants of the Soviet system within the Chinese aviation industry. And J20 is an advanced, efficient and creative representative of the achievements of Westernization.

A bunch of idiots full of pride and prejudice.

J35A makes sense if it meaningfully differs from J20A. Primarily, if it's meaningfully cheaper to run or to procure than the J20. We won't know if that's the case for, likely, years to come. Though, if after 5 years J20 is still being produced in greater numbers than J35, then that might signal that J35 is, in fact, not meaningfully cheaper.

Personally, I would expect it trades in some of the range and payload capacity, possibly even some of performance (like acceleration) and some avionics (somewhat smaller radar, etc) for a cheaper package. Not sure if trading in stealth levels for price would be advisable, though.
