Not sure what help you think China needs or is expecting. Most countries will support China diplomatically and continue trading as if nothing has happened. That will be all that's needed.

What relations aren't transactional?
Lots of these countries come to China asking for handouts. Support One China if you give me a check. Build a highway for me, and I’ll even proclaim it at the UN.

Politico article on how Germany is unlikely to back sanctions on China.

"Officials in Berlin acknowledge in private that Germany would not be able to endorse anything beyond token sanctions against China"
"the study notes that the Chinese are reducing their dependence on the region, while European exposure to China is increasing."

Why Germany won’t get tough on Beijing — even if it invades Taiwan

And if Germany doesn't impose sanctions, that will set the standard for the rest of the European Union and also Switzerland.

Swiss set to match EU sanctions if China invades Taiwan - agency chief

Germany and other European countries are vassals. They’ll do whatever their master tell them. Look at the ban on Russian energy.

What legal basis would these western nations have to sanction China? Taiwan is recognised as being part of China under the one China principle of having diplomatic relations with the PRC. Awfully presumptuous of these people, they’re almost begging for punishment.

And Germany and Co. should forget about even token sanctions if they don’t want a repeat of the CAI fiasco.
Just because whatever.

A Very interesting and IMHO Russian perspective on the recent show of force by China regarding the most recent visit of Nancy Pelosi.

The person on the video is a former Russian Military service member, a best selling author who's one of the 2 books he authored I managed to read which is this:

Here is his vlog where he opined the reasons why he thinks it was a mistake for China to threat but backed down. Wonder what you guys think of his assessment.

It's interesting why Indian would issue what can be interpreted as a provocative statement with respect to Taiwan an area of geography where it has no power or jurisdiction over with, or is this their way of butressing themselves up with the western powers as their way of making up for their continued support with Russia on the Ukraine war

It's Taiwan that does that, literally bribing presidents of island nations in return for recognition.

BRI is a lot more than "build a highway for supporting the One China policy". Building up Africa's infrastructure will lead to an expansion of trade in the future. Asking other countries to recognise your UN recognised borders isn't that much of an ask, which other country doesn't do this?

You must come from a country too poor to give out handouts.

Agree that BRI is important. But some of these countries are leeches. Plus many are political/economically/socially unstable. What is the ROI on some of these projects.

I remember this guy, I listened to a podcast where he participated. He's a former soviet officer iirc, so it's to be expected that he would have a negative opinion of chinese military/strategy.
fair enough, he's entitled to his opinion; china seems to be pursuing its own strategy, which sometimes can seem questionable to other observers, especially if they're biased. only time will tell who did the right thing
