Also, I just want to say, and this includes to myself - last night SDF turned into the closest we've been to a Jai Hind forum, which isn't something to be proud of.

In future, aside from reporting facts or plain straight news, we should take a moment before responding emotionally to something that doesn't fulfill our expectations, especially if those actions could have triggered a war.

Biden and Xi had to have coordinated this in last week's meeting. Biden lets Xi have his military exercise in Taiwan's territorial waters after she leaves. Xi allows Pelosi to land her plane without harassment by PLAAF.
That's even worse if Biden agreed to this trade. I don't know about you, but I 100% wouldn't take this trade.

Normalising these kinds of exercises just some miles away from Taiwan's coastline.. yikes! Pentagon must be fuming with Pelosi and Biden right now.

Yes, well ...

It's been a very emotional time for everyone, and we've been a little hysterical, but if we don't vent at the village tavern ... Anyway, in any case a cordial greeting to all those who have made this thread as a collective work that will have produced a good advertising revenue

Look if it is a matter of Taiwan hosting US nukes a la Cuban crisis, or becoming a genuine military base for the US, I'd be more inclined to agree. At the moment not even the slightest of red lines are overstepped.
Pelosi visited diplomatically. It is precedented. Some are interpreting this like us landed 10 nukes into Taiwan as an assault on the mainland.

Letting Taiwan go if it's a genuine military and security threat, yes indeed laughter at that notion. We differ on how we're interpreting the results and consequences.

If Taiwan hosts military equipment and troops for stationing then by all means AR is a forced hand. It really isn't a forced thing ATM. We can't force our own minds to think that's the only real path to security for china. That's becoming insane... Even more so than Russia wrt Ukraine. At least with that the western powers really were arming it secretly and it has been attacking Russian "states" for years. Taiwan hasn't done anything of the sort to the mainland in this century.
Technically that red line has already been crossed many times. Taiwan has hosted US weaponry for years. Most recently, US approved another $100 million to upgrade Taiwanese missiles. $2.2 billion was approved in 2019 to provide Taiwan with Abrams and other systems.

More covertly, US troops are already in Taiwan; training Taiwanese commandos.

She's near the end of her political career and has always been pretty anti-CPC. She's the first female speaker and Tsai is the first female Taiwan president so there is some symbolism. She's doing this most likely to cement her legacy as a defender of freedom and democracy willing to die by the PLAAF to support the Taiwanese people. She's going to include a chapter about this experience in her memoirs.
I am about to die laughing at that particular statement because the idea that a 81 year old ding ding is willing to die in the name of democracy for a nation that is lead by an old lesbian who literally is a failure from the moment she entered office. Really one must wonder, since when is being a woke leader a good thing, because it certainly didn’t enable Tsai Ing Wen to basically show her girl power with her partner in crime high and proud, instead she choose to hide it behind closed doors like her orientation and try even hard not to have much news come out because she was scared of the prospect of a DF being shoved up her arse
