would be funny (sorry if it isn't :)

Russians use
крюк
(pronounced like kryuk) for tailhook; what's the word in Chinese?

The likelihood of the PLAN releasing night-op footage is probably low. Think about why they released the footage that they did... because it looks good. It looks great on state television, it looks cool and motivates the populace to contribute to building a strong navy. Do night-ops look good on TV? Perhaps, but not likely; it's dark and so many details are obscured. It contributes little to looking cool on TV. The only thing it'll achieve is to satiate us military enthusiasts and we constitute a tiny portion of the population. It's simply not worth broadcasting night-ops, which takes up precious minutes of airtime on state television, to satisfy a tiny portion of the audience.

CCTV headline: PLA navy sailors working day and night to perfect CV ops and to protect the motherland!

Footage of night ops has its use. And if shot professionally using advanced gear, it still looks good. That's why many action movies have action scenes in the dark.

Thanks gents. I am humbled by your remarks. Thanks!

The Chinese have a decision to make. Will CV 16 be a training CV or a full fledged cv. After they put their second CV to sea that decision must be made. I predict that CV 16 will someday soon be fully operational.

Nah, you'd be wrong... If done and edited professionally night ops are the BEST footage! especially if a big chunk of it is part is for PR campaign.

You really see the afterburners, all the lights, jetwash over deflectors etc that you wouldn't see in daytime videos.
It offers a different perspective for sure so to say it isn't cool is not correct in my opinion. I would argue otherwise!

For the masses watching at home and PLAN fanboys it would multiply the cool factor 100X more!

It also tells the Chinese people Liaoning has finally achieve the most difficult part of carrier operations and is ready!

To date all the footage shows her sailing in pretty calm waters. Footage of her operating in heavier swells would be good as well.

Very true .....
Just wondering whether the British and French do all sort of maintenance and repairs on board like the USN do? ..... note: I don't include others (Russia, Thailand, Brazil, Spain and Italia) as I know they don't

I've seen the French doing major work aboard ship..Now in the photo below apparently the aircraft suffered a FOD out or major breakdown when landing aboard CVN-75. So a French maint. crew was flown aboard to repair this aircraft along with an engine that was more than likely VERTREPed aboard. If they can do this aboard CVN-75 they must do this aboard the FN R91.

The flight deck was pitch dark! Was it on purpose for PR or is keeping the CV in dark still useful in war time? I'd think that doing so won't be able to hide the CV from enemy's radars afar, right?
