that's something (just found about it on a Polish news-server; ИТАР-ТАСС announced it:

(see? it's him)

I checked the French wikipedia for spelling :) (it's Sergueï Narychkine), found at google.fr for example this:

I know the title, Le Monde, that's why I picked this link, but don't know any French, so can somebody please tell me how such a visit is "justified" by the French? delft? :)
The subscript beneath the photo says that French members of parliament, members of the Association for Dialogue between France and Russia, met the president of the Duma at the house of the Russian ambassador on September 1. The leader of the association is a member of the political party of the previous French president. And the article ends with the remark that they consider the sanctions stupid.

Addendum: Better jaw-jaw than war-war.
Btw the BBC was talking a few minutes ago about considering that you might influence Putin better with sport sanctions than economic sanctions. I suppose it was talking about economists.

Addendum2: The Duma president would have travelled on a diplomatic passport.

Thank you, delft, for the translation and this particular comment, it made me LOL as this morning I noticed:

NATO member states are set to meet on Thursday. If that turns out into World War 3 we're too late to stock up on supplies...LOL

On a more serious note...we know that Putin "wink-wink" a few days ago to remind everyone that winter is coming, and on yesterday's news it's said that the West use the same Russia-Western Europe gas supply line to pump LPG to Ukraine, meeting 20% of its consumption needs. Implications?

This is a recognition by Kiev that it has been militarily defeated. We now have to await the the political conclusions.
After the ceasefire it is safe to investigate the wreakage of MH17. I wonder how long that can be delayed.

I just heared a Dutch reporter talking from the headquarter of Novorussia in Donetsk on my favorite radio station.

Correction: the news bulletin on the radio just said that Putin denied there was a ceasefire accord. I think Putin said a ceasefire is a good idea, he has said that earlier, but that Kiev will have to agree with Donetsk

Preliminary report on causes of Malaysia MH17 crash due in 1 week - official

A preliminary report on the causes of the Malaysia MH17 plane crash has been prepared and is expected to be published in a week, ITAR-TASS reported. This could happen at the end of the current week or the beginning of the next week, the news agency said, citing a representative of the Netherlands’ Security Council. The report could clarify some causes of the crash, but “many issues will remain open,” the source said. Malaysia Airlines flight MH17, heading from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur, crashed in Ukraine’s eastern Donetsk Region on July 17, killing all 298 people on board.

"permanent ceasefire" agreement reached between Putin and Poroshenko, did Putin say he need to consult with the rebels first? or did Putin fall into a trap?
