I might not log on tomorrow, so ... I'd be pathetic if I didn't acknowledge that two weeks ago SampanViking had been right, and I had been wrong, about the "tide direction" in the Ukraine conflict. Applaud for SampanViking!

P.S. Had this argument taken place in the pub I regularly go, I'd have offered you one drink on me, but not of a beer or ordinary liquor, but the most expensive they have there (which I think would be Whiskey or Rum about 10 years old) -- but this doesn't work when talking to a stranger in the Internet, does it? :)

Now that is spoken like a true gent. I will pour a glass of the good stuff tomorrow and will credit you with it.

Now more of that applause please........what do you mean that's my lot!

We should not forget that Kiev was able to spot, identify and totally destroy a Russian armoured column that invaded just a few weeks back.

US most definitely has at least 1 spy satellite keeping 24/7 watch on the border and yet all they could do was use a 3rd party satellite pic that lacks coordinates. It's like taking a Google Earth snap of the Liaoning in South China Sea and then accusing China of attacking Ukraine.

As for that 20,000 regular Russian soldiers with the separatists their regional accent would have been a dead giveaway.
How is it that nothing is made of the Polish and US mercenary companies' soldiers sent to bolster up the Kiev spearheads? And the US military advisors in Kiev directing and planning the Kiev offensive against these "terrorists"? Are they all "volunteers"?

Seriously, the total lack of professionalism of US in barefaced accusations does them no credit and wins them no friends once they see thru the outright lies. From an Asian perspective, my friends and I are not fooled by Obama/Kiev.

It has serious implications on the various wars that US is waging all around the world and their reasons behind them.

Ok Jura but where are they?

There are supposed to be about 20,000 to 25,000 Novorossiyan fighters and the implication is that at any one time, half of them are Russian regulars fighting in Russian federation formations.

So where are they?

In a region and in war when even granny has a smart phone with a camera, how has the half the rebel army in full Russian Uniform and in Russian vehicles etc, managed to avoid total detection. How also have they managed to sneak all these thousands past the OSCE border monitors.

To be asked to swallow a lie is one thing, to be asked to swallow a ridiculous one is quite another.

My question is how did the separatists hit those boats so far from shore. Why didn't the crew take them away but left them as sitting ducks.

One of the Ukrainian coast guard vessels on fire, the other one sank after being hit.

Frankly I'd laugh too that Russia needs to use tactical nuclear weapons. The whole world knows what the face of real Russian involvement looks like from the annexation of Crimea. Now those very smartly turned out people in military uniforms but without insignia are real Russian soldiers. Putin obviously didn't really need to hide that fact at all.

Of course I don't ;) It is a close guarded secret, and unlike strategic weapons neither Russia nor US (or China for that matter) like to talk about them . There are only educated guesses how many of them are operational :

Nevertheless, I don't think Russia would need any of them to finish crippled Ukrainian Army . Thus far, even the rebel forces are sufficient to achieve desired outcome for Kremlin.

Good question! There are obviously other "forces" at work here. No pun intended......

That looks like a small boat that either took a big hit and/or something on it blew the whole superstructure off. Either way it does not appear to be a particularly valuable or capable piece of equipment, shouldn't be that big a loss.
