What are the reasons for China to not accept that move?
can be so many reasons.

1. China playing long game, they don't want too much Russian leverage in CR929 project as if they take Russian parts.

2. Redesigning of CR929 is not that easy, all aerodynamic tests have been completed. why just waste few millions.

3. China maybe looking for western market in near future. but sanctions on Russia hamper this project. sanctions wont lift even if dust settle.

4. ARJ21/C919 have many Western parts. COMAC is used to it, why just change this pattern.

edit - i forgot main thing, COMAC , honeywell and other western firms have many joint ventures in mainland for aviation parts. same firms will produce CR929 parts too. not feasible to switch to Russian parts

ARJ21 and C919 are built on western supply chain except perhaps titanium so why will COMAC accept Russian parts for C929?
on other hand Russia has other more pressing Tu-214 into mass production which was not in original plane when MS-21 was created.
on top of that SSJ-R further developments.
I know how challenging and demanding this would be, but shouldn't China strive for indigenization as much items as quickly as possible?

Russia considers withdrawing from CR929 project “We have this project with China, it is not going the way we would like. As China becomes an industrial giant, it is less and less interested in our services,” Deputy prime minister Borisov quoted by Russian news agency TASS..

not good if true. its not about technology. Russia still have massive influence globally. this partnership shouldn't have break. seems like Russia-Ukraine conflict have long lasting consequence.

waiting for some updates from Chinese side.
I think the situation is still very fluid. Things can change and what appears on outside may not be whole story. same thing happen recently when news of Huawei cutting off from Russia and it didn’t turn out like that and actually hiring more staff. Also with Chinese banking services in Russia etc. all purportedly done for fear of Western sanctions hit on Chinese side too
