HOLY SHIT I GOT HU CHUNHUA WRONG
Yeah that's the surprise. Hu Chunhua didn't even make it to Politburo.
he DEMOTED, he was Politburo before. This I did not forsee at all.
I am not surprised of Hu Chunhua not getting the Premier role but it is unexpected for him not making into the Politburo. The Communist Youth League of China is completely out of China highest political decision making circle which is not totally unforeseeable buy sooner than I expected. CYL has been very problematic for many years and there seems to be little has done to reform CYL. CYL has not only become irrelevant but ideological detrimental to CPC.
To be honest, Xi consolidated of power has probably been hastened by the new cold war that started by Trump and Biden. Without the external pressure, I don't think Xi could have that much of domination of the new Politburo. It is like I told you so when Hong Kong, Xinjiang, trade war, covid, Taiwan, Huawei and the recent semiconductor bans have proven Xi is right and the liberal lefts are naive.

Is Ding Xuexiang the one to watch? He's young enough to stay on PBSC if Xi retires at the end of this term.
This depends on if Xi retires at the end of this term. Given the new cold war, I think no.
I can see him going for another 5 years.
After all, 2027 is probably going be the Zenith of US-China confrontation
