I think the white wall around the perimeter is new though. I think originally they only have a chain link fence.

I thought 055 will take a a little longer to build because it is the first hull of her class, but from what pop3 said it won't matter much since he is talking about breaking speed record here.

When people kept asking pop3 about 055. His answer:
Don't be impatient, you will see 055 sooner or later. Because the design process for 055 takes time due to China started late.(maybe he meant large DDG/cruiser building?) The whole project design process took 5 years not including early pre-research after project approval and initiation. But as long as there is founding the construction speed for 055 is not a problem. Besides, the 055 test cycles were very short, we might actually see 055 breaks the speed record for building modern DDGs. Of course.. that's a possibility only.

Understood about it looking ungainly.

But that is a non-consideration when it comes to the capability. In that realm aesthetics is a non-consideration.

It puts those sensors up higher which broadens their horizon. With the angled structure it can remain effective from a radar signature standpoint too.

I guess time will tell.

I think the mock up is not detailed enough to tell us about all the sensors that will be mounted on 055, but I think it is legitimate enough such that we can rule out the idea that they're going for a Hobart/F100 arrangement for its main radars like that last CGI.

Agreed.

There will be some sensors, and perhaps different band radars on the taller portion above the bridge, but the main APARs are lower.
