Isn't 052DG just another name for 052DL?

Both labels are Internet invented. PLAN doesn't use 'gai'. The extended variant is already the third batch improvement. The question is whether we have a fourth.

Actually they do used "G" for "gai 改". Example type 053H1G and type 053H2G frigates, and type 039G submarine.

As for type 052D, I have not seen official designation of type 052DL or 052DG yet.

Isn't 052DG just another name for 052DL?

I think for all warships that would be producing for decades it'd better distinguish them by production batches.

And there could still be continuous improvements and discrete MLUs for individual vessels.
