So far, we have seen neither 055s nor 052Ds launching land attack cruise missiles from their VLSs. Not sure why.
We know that such a missile exists and it should be in advanced stages of development if not already in service.
I expect it is similar to the case of the VL ASROC Yu-8 on 054A from many years ago, where it was rumoured to be in service for many years, but it took a long time for the PLAN to actually release an image of it.
I.e. general PLA opsec shenanigans.
Many people in China believe, those are 052DG, G-Gai: modified.
Won't be hard to make one. It will be practically a single stage YJ-18 without the supersonic separator stage. I also think it's possible to make one that will launch using the smaller 7 meter VLS, which can enable all the cells of the 052D, and even if the 054B would use the U-VLS.
Isn't 052DG just another name for 052DL?
We’ve technically never seen PL-15 getting launched either. Like Bltizo said, Opsec.
