As if anyone seriously believes Nancy Pelosi would go to Taiwan if the US military have warned against it. Last time it was the positive COVID test, I wonder what the excuse will be this time?

Or are we supposed to believe that the US democratic party are more hawkish than the military?

Some believe she's actually trying to distract from investigation into insider trading by her and her husband.

If true you can understand why Biden isn't pleased about this. Right now which ever way this thing is going to go Biden is going to get the blame for it, and it may well be for her own political benefit and Biden gets nothing.

I don't know what he can do though, it doesn't seem like Biden can control her, hell I'm not even sure if Biden can boss Harris around.

Unproven maybe, but North Korea have certainly been working very hard on MLRS.

Unique in the world they employ 600mm super heavy MLRS. In North Korean military theory with increasing number of K9 and other advanced guns facing them on the 38th parallel tube artillery can no longer reliably deal out destruction against the south before they are destroyed. Therefore shoot and scoot and the ability to deliver very heavy fire power in very narrow time window is important to them. So they focus a lot on MLRS including super heavy ones.

Once Russia starts buying military gear from North Korea openly it also opens up avenues for sudden breakthroughs by North Korea where they "invent" familiar looking weapons and immediately offer them for export to the Russians.

Biden's fate is already sealed, I doubt he can win in 2024. Pelosi still wants speaker of the house, so midterms matters a lot to her. If Biden ever gets a chance to meet Xi, a proper in-person scolding is overdue.

I wouldn't necessarily describe Quincy report as China hawk or China dove, they are more concerned with saving cost than anything else.

Quincy institute seems very dovish compared to the rest of US think-tanks, the only major one that might be less interventionist is probably Cato institute.

Basically, South Korea doesn't want to join Chip 4 Alliance. Funny thing is this piece of news can't be found on the English section of Yonhap, tricky isn't it.

I think this article is just propaganda, making it seem like Korea is really trying hard not to join CHIP 4. Based on the nature of South Koreans and their current situation it seems certain they will join US Daddy's alliance.
