Well kinda sorta, The Japanese OH1 or scout versions of the Tiger or Mangusta are closer. The Z19 has a streamlined hull tandem seating and four hard points on its stubs, OH58 has a full cabin and only two hard points on small stubs. I would say that Z9W is closer to OH58.
now what does that mean? In terms of mission Z19 can engage a larger number of enemy tanks in a rapid strike.IE pop up fire missiles get the heck outta dodge.
Z9W can do that too but she can only take half the targets.
so Z19 is superior... Well kinda sorta. See Z9W or OH58. can also pull other missions her cabin means she can be used to transport commanders or medevac or deploy a small number of troops or supplies.
Z19 can't do those she is optimized specifically to scout.

mmw guided HJ-10 isn't very far away now, I expect.

But I think a Z-19 has capacity for a fair bit more firepower than an OH-58, and probably deserves to be called a heavy armed scout or something. Its missile load can be virtually identical to Z-10. Only probably differences is stripped back armour, lack of gun, slightly quieter and smaller too.

I can see this thing working with Z-10s certainly in a recon and information support role, but also armed heavily enough to strike at targets of opportunity, while avoiding heavier fire which Z-10 will instead take on. It's take off weight of 4.5 tons is similar to the AH-1J, but obviously with far more modern avionics, so calling Z-19 an attack helicopter in itself wouldn't be of the mark.

of course, I expect the up-engined Z-10 to mount a MMR as well, and it's yet to be seen just how extensive the MMR will be proliferated among the Z-19s.

Actually Turkey has full intellectual property rights for T-129A prodiction and there is no restriction on exports from Turkey to a 3rd party

Many big players have serious orders lined up for T-129 including Saudi Arabia, it's a great move by Turkey to develop a attack helo it will pay them back in leaps and bounds

T-129B will have indigenous missions computers and Turkish built weapons systems UAE has already ordered $200 million worth of Rokestsan missiles for thier armed forces

T-129 is actually a really good platform, it's a shame Pakistan did not persue rotary wing aircraft infrastructure like they did for fixed wing years ago

The T-129s are good gunships, but I am still skeptical about Pakistan going for them via Turkey. China's WZ-10s are powerful gunship helicopters, and if there was willingness on China's part, as well as Pakistan's, then I would've preferred that PAA go for WZ-10s instead of T-129s. This is despite the fact that Pakistan probably won't face any limitations on the T-129s, since it would be through Turkey. For Pakistan, China is the one to go for, when it comes to military hardware. ToT maybe the gold-bar in this deal with Turkey, but personally, China is way more reliable ally than any of Pakistan's allies.

Simply beautiful pictures!

... one can almost be forgiven for saying the following to his wife:

(Self): "Dear, I want to buy a Z-19 for our next helicopter."
(Wife): "..."
(Self): "Have you seen the latest photo of the gunship? Those are simply beautiful!"
(Wife): "..."
(Self): "I can almost smell the new helicopter sent already."
(Wife): "Dear, we are talking about a new CAR, not a new HEAVY ARMED SCOUT GUNSHIP..."
(Self): "... ha, ha, ha, you are funny darling."

Thanks for sharing the photo!

Can someone explain what those small windows for? I don't see the purpose of those windows at all. Is it for ground crew to pass a pen or notebook without opening the hatch?

Really Ahho its likely a combination of all three Answers. Cockpits like those on fighters and attack helicopters are personal greenhouses add the reflected heat from the tarmac, and engines and you could probably bake cookies on the pilot's lap. The flight crew need ventilation, they also need to receive orders and hand off messages. Finally they might end up receiving bottles of water or maybe even a small lunch if they are on standby in the cockpit.
as to a shooting from it... Are you kidding me? A cockpit that small would be really difficult to maneuver any real side arm with. A hand gun maybe, a Submachine pistol possibly, a submachine carbine doubtful, assault rifle impossible.
