Related to that, what jumped out at me was how the upper window for the pilot had a slightly more covered up bottom corner compared to the regular one.

Other than that, I haven't exactly done a thorough back and forth comparison.

Well spotted. Both windows appear reshaped and downsized, with the upper one significantly smaller than before.

Moreover, the small opening in the upper window pane appears to be omitted or perhaps relocated to the other side. The same could also be true with the lower window, but we can't tell due to it being opened in the photo.

I think that's probably beyond repair

Btw the WZ-10H looks like a normal army aviation helo can't see no flotation devices if it was for naval aviation, surely a helo of that calibre would have them

According to Global Times, both pilots are ok. The crashed helicopter wasn't operated by the military, which implies that this is a modified variant undergoing flight testing.

According to Chinese news sites, witness reports a loud boom from the tail before it crashed. The wreckage does show that the tail has broken off.
