Come now my friend we have to understand the Chinese history with attack helicopters to try and map there mind set. Z10 and hind are two very different beasts. But by studying it the Chinese designers may have decided to place a emphasis on reduced detection and light weight nimble craft over large monstrosity's of fire power or also may have led the design team to choose a lightweight cannon over a heavyweight.

　　中航工业集团已经重点突破了总体气动、旋翼系统、飞控系统等技术瓶颈，针对新一代旋翼系统技术、先进直升机构型技术、航空电子综合技术、振动和噪声控制技术等先进技术的预先研究已经开始。吴希明认为，未来第五代直升机速度将比现有直升机提高一倍以上，航程也将增加2-3倍，可与固定翼飞机媲美。同时还要具备直升机特性，这不仅是简单地指能垂直起降，还需要保持优良的近地机动能力，这始终是直升机的决定性优势所在。

　　中航工业直升机所所长邱光荣表示，到2020年，我国将突破第四代直升机关键技术，具备自主研发第四代直升机的能力，基本形成重、大、中、小、轻直升机型谱，进入世界直升机产业第一梯.

Z-10 chief designer Wu Xi Ming (吴希明) mentioned what he believe was that fifth generation helicopter should have faster speed (at least one times above current gen of copter), operating/ travel range to be 2 to 3 times longer and should be comparable to fix wing aircraft. Never in the passage has Wu Xi Ming mentioned anything about china having increase range of the helicopters by 2~3 times.

Even if it is powerful enough in its current form, there's always room for more horsepower; the more the better it can carry out its role as an attack helicopter. Hasn't the AH-64 upgraded its engine from the first model? Power is never enough. Then you can have thicker armor, better heat suppression, more stealth and missiles, etc.

You know I really fell Z10 is under colored I miss that camouflage patterns. May be go digital like they did with there armored vehicles. Wearing flat green just looks to American.

Agreed... but that also depend on the terrain they are going to be operating in. I think plain green coat is the easiest to merge with a majority of terrains. I believe if they are to be deployed to some more specific location, they could then put on camouflage pattern easily and quickly

I thought about that but the more I thought about it the more I felt that it doesn't work. Look at the apache her US army paint is a close match. In the desert she sticks out in the snow unless buried she is easy to spot. Tan or marine grey would be better suited. And why if Z10 and Z19 are the newest of the line was the PLA moving to a single flat color? If so then why no other birds still have camo? A field applied camo system is a possibility and in the west such systems for vehicles are becoming available even 3D types but applying that to a chopper seemed odd and if you were going to do that would you not have tried it out? Had your troops training to do it? Breaking out the krylon is a option but this is a sophisticated piece of equipment. my next thoughts was night ops. That the PLA was going to focus on nocturnal operations. But plenty of there other birds kept the camo and if I was.going to focus on nocturnal ops I would be issuing new NOD to all my troops. My next thought was that perhaps that since Z10 has some obvious radar reduction perhaps the Chinese stealth coating's are dark in color because of there chemical makeup. This makes some sense to me as the J21 and J20 are also darkly colored. But that is all conjecture.

actually it did say overcoming some key obstacles: overall aerodynamic, propeller blades system & flight control system.
