Oh yeah I forgot about that one, perhaps its because they werent memorable, like the NK's in 1966 where they really caught the other teams out with their extreme fitness, loosing to Portugal 5/3 in the quarters what a game. I dont think I have seen any Asian team , play as well in an international against a highly rated European team since. Wasnt it slightly easier for China to get in as Korea and Japan had automatic entries?

I think China should have qualified in 82 they were a more skillful team than NZ. To beat them NZ decided to play a more physical game

well you'll have to concede that south korea did beat italy spain and portugal in 2002...even though they were playing 14 against 11

china qualified in 2002, but they had the best of luck(sarcasm) for a weak group who entered the qualifiers....playing against brazil for their first match. lol 5-0. absolutely funny.

this is why chinese aren't very patriotic when it comes to soccer....hell it's almost the only thing we aren't patriotic about lol..(since we can't even be in it anyways)

This was very different. The North Koreans were away from home, and according to my cousins who went to see the game the whole stadium press and all ,except for the Portuguese fans were actively cheering for the NK's. Apparently it was magic. In the first half the NK rang rings around the Portuguese and anytime a NK got the ball and attacked goal a whole stadium chant of :EASY EASY: rang out. Although outplayed in the end they played 150% as a team and never gave up. Even in loosing they earn't the most praise.
Actually the NK's were rank outsiders in the competition, and they got adopted as the favourite underdogs for playing so well.

Hows this for a brilliant idea: China tells NK and SK to reunite, thus leaving a spot for China:D

Well its only a fun bet/ otherwise i would not have taken Italy, they play a monotonous, purposeful, and defensive game, argghhh

Netherlands play quite entertainingly and I like backing them as a fun bet

yes betting is legal here

Well, your bet vanished into thin air, and so was mine. Looks like the Asian teams are playing well in this world cup while the African's are a little bit disappointing.

Lets say they both will be playing for a win so I split my last $8.00 (France$4 win) and same for Mexico?

well back then socialism has not yet become a bad word in english and north was richer than the south LMAO.

but if i remembered correctly NK was leading 3-0 at one point, unless we are talkin about different games

I think it was 3-0 for Brazil who went on to become the 2002 Champion.

Excert ..............Not according to Dan Gordon, who says that modern football has only just caught up with the fast-paced style that the Koreans played:

"Football in 1966 was incredibly slow, and nowadays teams play like the Koreans did in 1966... I wouldn't call them victims at all... they were visionaries."

It was the Australian team that took a spot from the Asian group. Come to think of it, it doesn't make sense. :D

Previously, before the last qualifiers, they were in the Oceania Group.
