Smells like propaganda to me. The Russians’ rapid encirclements and captures of major cities prove otherwise. I would be highly cautious of social media posts and government statements from both sides, particularly the US/Ukrainian one, since the amount of crazy stories popping out from their side is nuts.
I'm always a skeptical person. Whenever the US tells the truth it's because it's in their interest. Same when they lie. Applies to everyone.
People have been drinking the whole kool-aid just because the US got the Russian invasion correct.

It just means they gained credibility to make future lies more convincing.

I think it's easy to forget that Russia and Ukraine existed peacefully side by side for over 20 years with no threat of conflict between the two. During the presidencies of Leonid Kuchma, Viktor Yuschenko and Viktor Yanukovych. For most of that time Putin was in power.

The conflict didn't start this year, it started in 2013-14 with the Euromaidan protest where Yanukovych, who to this day is the last elected leader by the entire original Ukraine electorate, was violently overthrown. Yes he was 'impeached', however the votes for impeachment did not reach the threshold legally required at the time. It is as if the Jan 6th protests succeeded and forced Biden to flee the country.

The Ukrainian civil war/Russian intervention started at that time, and this is really just a continuation of that. At that time, as at this time, we in the West were happy to egg on the conflict, while being relatively free of the consequences.

You kinda destroyed your own argument here. Your 1st point contradicts your 2nd point.

Russia is ultimately outmatched by NATO, so that 2nd point is true. But those nations which are outmatched don't want to wage war (it's not the optimal solution for them.) They only risk waging war when they are forced to. That's why your 1st point is false.

And this is why Russia has been trying to avoid this war since 2008:

Not really they knew good and well that they could invade Ukraine much like they did Georgia and Chechnya without major repercussions or a military response from NATO. Russia is clearly the aggressor who sought out war for gain.

@LawLeadsToPeace yup and I'm impress that this thread hadn't generated to name calling, we all have different view BUT at least we're matured enough to discuss and present evidence, hurray to all for keeping it civil.
