According to reports, the negotiations for the Iran nuclear deal are having progress and we have entered the final stage. It is likely that we might have a finalised deal within this month
TBH that deal is good as dead within 2-3 years. Dems are already projecting a massive loss in the Mid Terms but it’s enough to approve the new Iranian Deal. The senate does not vote to approval the bill but to vote to disapprove the bill which means Repub. need 60 votes to stop it. Only issue is this bill needs to be ratified by the Senate with 60 votes… so the next president (Trump) can just withdraw from it again.

No chance it passes the Senate. And also 100% chance that when the Republicans win the presidency in 2024, they will delete it again

Can't wait. Trump made America fun and entertaining to watch as a reality TV show.

When the Donald Trump Presidential Library gets established (at the top of Trump Tower?), it'll be my Mecca. I hope to make the pilgrimage once in my life.

Hope Hillary Clinton becomes President at the age of ninety and shatter the glass once and for all.

Initial bill may pass the senate if it happens before mid terms because apparently the Senate does not need to vote to approve the agreement. They need to vote to disapprove the agreement. In other words, the agreement is automatically agreed to due to some old nuclear laws decades ago.

I meant for a treaty. If it is not a treaty then in 2 years the Republicans will just pull out from the deal

How is this nonsense even possible? If that report is to be believed then it means Russia's OPSEC is ridiculously bad and is filled with double-agents or traitors.

If I may, I suspect most militaries of the world do not have a good grasp of how compromised networks and computers are. If you hook it up to a network, it has a huge likely to be hacked if a nation state wants it bad enough. I am not saying Russia is really bad at it. I am saying I think ALL nations are bad at this and no one appreciates it yet.

For that matter, social media gives away a ton of stuff about people, too. Remember the embarrassment for the US when fitbit trackers were giving away locations of 'secret' bases in Syria? Remember when Russian army units were easily tracked due to goofs posting pictures to VK and others could geolocate the information in the background?

All it would take is a plan being found on a computer and then compare the social media confirming locations and movements with a touch of bluff for the West to attempt to deter Russia. If Russia is going to do the invade, that won't stop them: the threat of a major war is the only thing that might at this point and the West has no stomach for it.

And we're talking about the same U.S. that was unable to accurately predict or foretold the Afghanistan withdrawal debacle and the ensuing collapse of then Ghani administration.

bah. I suspect it was leaders not willing to listen or saying "fsck it. let's go home" anyways. Everyone, their brother, their austic dog and all the broken clocks of the world knew Ghani was going to collapse when the US left. That's a topic for another thread though.

Yes. I did mention it in the original comment. Are we sure we aren’t in some time loop or something? Iran Withdrawl 2.0, Trade war 2.0, potentially Hillary Clinton 2.0 (rumors), etc.

"It's totally unnecessary for Russia to invade Ukraine at this stage unless Ukraine launches attacks against Crimea or the Eastern Ukraine regions first. But Washington continues to pay great efforts to hype the information about 'Russia's invasion' in the past few months, even though the information sounds very unrealistic and it's harmful for the situation. So the US is doing this for its own reasons," Jin said.

"It's possible that if Moscow and Kiev both keep calm, the US would use its proxies, such as NGOs or agents in Ukraine to create new troubles or to spark conflicts between Russia and Ukraine. This is what we need to pay attention to, rather than worrying about a so-called 'Russian invasion' hyped by the US," Jin noted

This is probably as close as we can get on an “statement” from China for the coming week.

Chinese analysts said the attempt is clear, as Washington wants to create a trap for China
