Where Germany goes the rest og EU follows.

That's a combine 18 Trillion USD GDP economy (the same as China) rearming after three decades of military neglect and fully in the US camp now thanks to Putin.

Somewhere Xi Jinping must be banging his head against the wall screaming something along the lines "with friends like this, who needs enemies"
It doesn't really matter, it will take at least a decade for the EU to build up their MIC again. In that time China could well be the foremost power on the planet.

Also, a militarilly stronger EU is not necessarily a good thing for the US and bad for China, as it means they will act more independently and in their own interest, and they are after all on the Euroasia land mass and so have a vested interest in BRI.

I think you got it wrong.
A bunch of countries want Europe to become strong enough to become an independent 3rd pole in global affairs.
France, especially.

Europe remilitarization isn't a net gain for America.
It's nearly a requirement for this policy independence to happen. Something China would like, I'll add.

IMO Kharkiv and Mariupol will fall to Russia before the dust settles. Losing the second biggest city and the second biggest port city will make Ukraine poor, especially if Kiev gets bombed on a daily basis years down the road.
We remember from when you said this before, twice!
