fine, but the way that all states work at all times is by continuously attempting to shape and guide events to their own favor. they don’t stop just because the current event they are trying to shape happen to be of their own doing in the first place.

assigning blame is a tactic, not a strategy.

This is caused by Russian weakness. And it is weakness. If they try but are unable to secure quick gains with overwhelming force then they are physically weak. But that's not too bad. Physical weakness can be overcome.

The worst fear is if they are able but unwilling. That would be mental weakness which is the most dangerous of all, because then that calls into question not just Russian strength but Russian resolve and makes their escalation threats hollow. That invites intervention.

A failed escalation is better than no escalation at all because at least they won't question Russian resolve.

The thing is how Russia will respond tho. As shown in Wikileaks paper back in 2008. Georgia and Ukraine was neuralgic to Russia.

But it seems they dont really bother with the Scandinavians. Norway was already in NATO as well as Trio Baltics. I would say Russia will just go ahead and not really bother with Finlands. Also Russia dont really have border problem or ethnicity issues with their scandinvian neighbor.

They're wasting their time, that is not going to happen. Finland joining NATO would be worse than the Ukraine.

Alternative theory is that Finland cannot afford its defense. it has to outsource. how they have high per capita income and produce essentially nothing.
The same thing happening to ukraine. It created country that rely on foreigners to run its economy.
Since foreigners have left Ukranians have to move back to run the country.
by logic of 4D chess 200,00K (Russians/Chechens/Ingush/DNR/LPR) has engaged a country of 30m to a stand still. and this the only thing on mind of EU.

The price of 200k fighting Ukraine to a halt is exactly that. Fighting to a halt. Not winning means you are either unable or unwilling to.
