The current A-50's are supposed to have been modernized to A-50U standard. Much better than original A-50's.
That is not new. They've been doing that in many major towns they control. Kherson is under Russian control and is being administered by Ukrainian opposition parties.Looks like annexation is on the menu
"The plot thickens. @TheStudyofWar's 3/31 update notes that Krainian defense officials believe Russia trying is to set up civ-mil administrations & preparing to create a “Kherson People's Republic” to administer occupied areas. 1/3"
"Ukraine's General Staff also claim the Kremlin is “curating” Russian law enforcement personnel and court officials for deployment to Ukraine at an unspecified future date."
"There are a lot of reasons why a "people's republic" model is not an ideal option for Russia. But if they intend to hold territory indefinitely, they need to govern it somehow. Not a good sign for Ukraine"
But with the new helo attack in Belgorov and the change in Ukrainians aggressiveness in rescents days are maybe caused by some changes of commanding officers.I'm pretty sure that's due to the oopsie when their mechanized assault force advancing towards Kherson city got wiped by arty and airstrikes.
With the number of troops left in Mariupol, what is the point of sending less than half a dozen helo's to "rescue" anyone" Who are they are so desperate to rescue there? What can an Mi8 carry, 12-20 men?But with the new helo attack in Belgorov and the change in Ukrainians aggressiveness in rescents days are maybe caused by some changes of commanding officers.
We see counter push a bit everywhere in the news and that Mi-24 attack was certainly well prepared. It's a bit late and could bring Ukrainians troops in dire situations like in Kherson. Still they have been able to kept some air power. The Mariupol rescue effort is astonishing risky but they still tried to do it.
It look like something changed, don't know if it's despair or if they have waited for the Russian troops to be weary before moving but maybe we will see more cohesive troops movements from the Ukraine side soon.
What's different is they are planning to establish independent puppet regime ( Kherson People's Republic / Novorussiya confederation) in occupied south/east as an independent state with pro-Kremlin local leaders, similar to Doneskt People's Republic and Luhansk People's Republic, later 'inviting' peacekeepers, then referendum vote to join Russian federation. That is not new. Exactly, it look like a waste to trow these ressources directly in a meat grinder, we didn't hear about that kind of ''rescue''before from Ukrainian sides. Do they still have numerous helicopter sot they can try stuff like that or the chain of order is changed somewhat?I think this weekend is going to mark the beginning of a pretty major escalation in fighting in Ukraine. Once mariupol is done with,
