Was the statement given my military chiefs this morning. Claiming a total of two personal carriers were destroyed after they allegedly crossed into the border; according to Russian commanders.
That is definitely possible and can be used as an excuse to eliminate Ukrainian forces near the separatist regions or even the majority of the Ukrainian military. Regardless, the ball is now in Ukraine’s court.

So, now, does Ukraine have to decide whether or not to prosecute an offensive operation against the two “new Republics”, or to remain in a defensive posture?
Will the “new Republics” pursue territorial “consolidation” with Russian backing?

Russia has been supplying weapons to the LNR and DNR since 2014.
That was a very long speech to justify the end where he declared recognition of the DNR & LNR.
Putin has declared Ukraine must stop attacks on those republics immediately, if they do not, the fault for what happens next is on Ukraine.
Putin also said he expected to sign a treaty of mutual aid (alliance?) with the DNR & LNR after the Duma ratifies it. The signing is expected to happen shortly.
There were some very strong words said throughout the speech. *MY* interpretation - worth as much as you pay for it - was very much that he doesn't think Ukraine should exist.
