Imagine destroying your own country in order to realise this..
"#BREAKING Zelensky says Ukraine must recognise it will not join NATO"
I think we may start to see the end of this war. A lot of Ukrainians were still under the impression this could happen, or that NATO will fly in to save the day.

Zelensky seems to be still under the impression that its about Crimea and Donbass, and giving up both would be VERY unpopular with the Ukrainian public. He's in a very tough situation with no option that's good for him.

At the very least Russia isn't going to withdraw from any territory it holds. I don't see the Russians handing back the keys to Chernobyl for example.

The impression I'm getting from most Russian sources the only option on the table now is an unconditional surrender. We'll see if Putin is as tough as people claim he is.
If I were Putin I put forth 1 condition for ending the war. Disband NATO or the war continues.
There's every chance NATO could disband anyway if Putin takes Ukraine and NATO do nothing.

NATO going away is too optimistic, but Zelensky is royally fucked in this situation. He cannot win, he cannot surrender after saying what he's said. He'll continue sacrificing Ukrainian lives and infrastructure in a futile effort to stave off defeat.

I'd almost feel sorry for him, if not for the fact that he's an utterly disgusting human being in every sense of the word.

Thanks to Putin's War, NATO is good for another 50 years now and will expand to include Finland and Sweden, as well as a re-armed Germany.

Just to confirm, is this the same Zelensky as this one here? Is this a comedy act? Schizophrenia?

"We will not forgive. We will not forget. We will punish everyone who committed atrocities in this war.”
Well seen the composition of his government is quite clear that comedians do play many rolls.

Don’t count your chickens before they hatch. Sweden and Finland are currently reconsidering joining NATO:

So we’ll have to wait and see. As for Germany, it will take them about 10 years to restructure and rearm themselves as noted in this video made by this channel:

That estimate is being nice btw. Also, this Youtuber actually cites from high-quality and authoritative sources. So I wouldn’t dismiss it immediately if I were you.

I don't dismiss it. The Bundeshwer has been neglected for decades and it will take some time to fix the rot.

Russians got hands on more Javelin and NLAW and Panzerfaust 3 for reverse engineering and mass production.

Russian paratroopers fighting Ukrainian nationalists, captured anti-tank systems, hand grenade launchers, portable anti-aircraft missile systems of Western production.

Russian airborne troops units captured the stronghold of nationalists and foreign mercenaries near Guta-Mezhigorskaya in Kiev region.

Russian paratroopers seized American-made Javelin anti-tank missile systems and a number of other types of weapons supplied by Western countries to Ukraine.

Every system captured is being handed over to the units of the people's militia of the Donetsk and Lugansk people's republics.

Zelensky is sacrificing the lives of his countrymen for the applause of western neolibs and social media. What a disgusting human being.

the ukrainian war actually makes it much more essential for russia to secure a positive physical arrangement to keep Ukraine out of NATO, instead of relying o any mere agreement or constitution change to the same effect. This is because, let’s be honest, any merely agreement or constitutional change after this war will be perceived by generations of Ukrainians as invalid because it was entered into under duress, and therefore are mere shackles to be thrown off at the first opportunity.

So ukraine, by resisting so hard, probably lost its chance to settle this with a mere agreement.

in ancient western warfare, a city threatened with siege is entitled to negotiate under normally accepted rules of war all the way until the besieges makes their first attempt to assault the wall. After that it is customarily accepted that the besiegers are entitled to commit arson, rape and pillage, and killing the population or selling them into slavery without disapprobation if they should eventually succeed in taking the city.

There is a certain logic in this. and this was the tacitly accepted rule of war from time immemorial down to Stalingrad, Leningrad and berlin. If you think westerner did better amongst themselves after the age of enlightenment, ask the inhabitants of copenhagen when the british besieged it during napoleonic wars.

if one is in danger of being besieged, one should not forget this logic may run deeper than niceties of modern sensibility.
