The Bulwark is a very nice and very capable LPD.

I wonder what her escort over there consists of. Probably a Type 23 for sure, and perhaps even a Daring is with her.

Wow, just two frigates as escorts for an LPD, an LHD, three LSDs (RFAs) and two major replenishment RFA vessels? Seems like a pretty light escort to me.

I would have expected one SSN, and one Daring to be with those major, capital asset vessels.

I mean with the Bulwark, the Illustrious and three of the Bay Class, that's over half of the Royal Navy's major amphibious vessels, the others being the Albion, the Ocean, and the other Bay Class.

...

Well, I don't want to think about what would happen if an enemy sent a submarine squadron against this force ... Maybe this statement should calm me down, quote, The Task Group is able to conduct simultaneously a range of operations from deterring adversaries and maritime security to international engagement and supporting regional stability. end of quote from

Royal Navy has a preseence in all oceans apart from Pacific and Indian right now which is stretching the fleet as far as it goes

Out of the 6 x Type 45 DDG here is the status of each as of now

HMS Dauntless is in the Caribbean
HMS Daring is in the Philippines
HMS Defender, Diamond and Dragon are in UK either just back from deployments or ready to go out
And HMS Duncan is in trials

SSN and SSBN is classified information so we can't be sure but I know that HMS Dragon at the start of this month was in the Mediterranean playing cat and mouse with HMS Talent both were in the Eastern part doing excercises so a SSN is somewhere out there for SSBN no one knows

So yes I would say two FFG is a very light escort and thats why I always maintain that 12 x Type 45 DDG should have been built, when the first ones were commissioned they spent hundreds of days out on patrol and the SSN fair worse, HMS Trenchant holds the record for most days at sea for Royal Navy that's 335 days!

Royal Navy has 13 naval operations it is currently conducting that's tied down all major vessels I believe if we had 12 DDG Royal Navy would deploy one to the Pacific and one in the Indian Ocean on a permanent basis

No need to say please Forbin I happy to share, middleast covers a wide area but certainly in the Persian Gulf RN has currently HMS Echo a Patrol Boat and HMS Shoreham a minesweeper this is in addition to the East of Suez task force part of UKMCC

HMS Westminister a Type 23 FFG is in the Gulf of Aden and HMS Summerset also a Type 23 is in the Red Sea

For SSN I know the route they usually take is Mediterranean passing through the Suez and into the Red Sea for operations with the USN in the Persian Gulf always one in rotation they carry Tomahawks for NATO forces part of the commitment requires Tomahawk cover

HMS Montrose is also out on patrol for the middleast but currently is in the Atlanic Ocean

For SSBN even the best intelligence agency's don't know where they are we see them when they leave Faslane on the Clyde but once they submerge into the water no one knows where they are hiding they never transit the Suez ( because this has to be done while surfaced) either they are the ultimate hidden nuclear deterrence always one on patrol

So I would say RN has one SSN and one SSBN out at all times, SSN covers middleast part of the patrol but not at all times SSBN we will never know

Well, the Type 23, Duke Class frigates are the workhorse combatants for the Royal Navy right now. They are also among the best ASW surface combatants available to anyone.

Yes, the SSN operations are classified...I would think that a Trafalgar is actually with this Task Force...just not announced publically. IMHO, it almost has to be.

I would like see soon one Astute with her look unusual and impressive, they have a little family resemblance with Vanguard.

RN get also with RAF one a very large logistics ships fleet, 9 with Argus including several large excess 30000 t, only of this size with US.

Ready for receive Qu. El. CV.
