Re: Type 95 assault rifle

Dude, the M14 uses full size rifle rounds rather than intermediates......kinda past the league.....

And again, the XCR/6.8x43 deal is false.

Not all AKs have stinky long range combat, Golly will argue for that. As Kalashnikov himself said, he made his gun loose, so that it can have tolerance and take in dirt. Really the "quality" (depends on how you define it here) matter.

Come to think of it, if China chooses to not care for left hand shooters, as indicated by the Type 95, it is unlikely I think that they will use the the Type 03 at all. I don't know what China's Special Forces focus on when it comes to arms. (Most countries give their SOGs carbines, but we have not seen China employing them anywhere) Maybe they have a spot for bayonet charges(which you might have to resort to if you can going to maintain your stealth on a recon mission I guess.)

Bayonet charge wouldn't they wield a good old handknife with their hands and slice the throat to prevent them from yelling if they instead got a bayonet charge at them. Me neither havent seen one article, picture or anything having Spec Forces equipped with any carbine rifle of any sort. Except mock up scenarios were some Spec Forces uses M-4 to familiarize themselves with foreign rifle operating.

Looks like they came out with a Special Forces version of the Type 95.

Re: Type 95 assault rifle

Second picture is Type 97 Carbine, cause of the magazine well designed for STANG magazine not the PLA ones. So the second picture is an export Type 97 Carbine designated for 5.56 rounds not the 5.8 rounds.

I know sounds pretty weird but the U.S. Army still use the M14s in small numbers as an intermidiate range sniper rifle. due the 7.62 mm it`s more powerful than the regular NATO 5.56mm. As for some AKs good in long range... The AK74s are better than AK47s due Russia realize than the 7.62mm was unaccurate in comparation with 5.45mm, also russia improve the sigth of the AK74 and its obvious for this two improvements enhance the long range capabilities of the AKs in long range engaments. Even recognizing thouse advantage the piston sistem (a bless a damn at the same time)... you may ask why?... cause the piston system gives a huge advantage in reliability thats why the AKs are so reliable, but makes the end of the barrell wabble and that affects the accuracy too bad.

The case of China you can watch any video in

of modern PLA Forces (2005 and on) and all you gonna see PLA forces with QBZ95s unless military parades they still using Type56s/81s (AK based rifles). The Type03 is another AK based chinese rifle and I dind watch a single video of modern PLA forces ussing a AK based for any other thing besides military parades. Besides you can chek at wikipedia more details about the QBZ95 was developed in 1997 anb is already adopted by the PLA as the official Assault Rifle.

My bad. That first pic is just a Type 95 partially disassembled. For a moment it looked liked it had an electronic sight in the rear. Been playing too much Call of Duty 4 lately.

Re: Type 95 assault rifle

Nevertheless, the 7.62x51 is a full size round. But yea, pictures of them are everywhere in Iraq. As for the wobbling barrel(why was that?), was that true only for all AKs or just some? Most of the ones that show on Discovery on youtube happen to be Romanian made, which are some of the worst. And if that always happened....let's ask Golly to shoot his Finnish AK. (I don't really trust the wobble barrel.) Is it really the barrel? Most gas operated rifles today have the piston barrel, including the SIG 550 and Galil (Both of which uses the AK system, if there are different designs out there.)

What sight improvement did they have on the AKs? Even Type 81s and AK-103s have the old sights.......Thank goodness for Finnish ingenuity...... (Usable sights) The only advantage the Russian/Chinese sights (which even the Chinese are going to stop using) have is the compactness and ease of storage.... (It does not get caught by clothing as easily for concealing.)

So the navy are employing 95-carbines? Navies are general don't use guns, but if they do, shouldn't they use something ambidextrous? It may sound crazy in those straight corridors, but seeing how the ship is full of doors and that it is a maze, you probably could use some left handed weapons here. (And you are not going to toss in a grenade.)
Just a thought.

Re: Type 95 assault rifle

Navy boys dont get much time in the shooting range so if your a left handed person well good luck your gonna have a hard time to adjust a pure right handed rifle. Personally crew with pistols would be quite adequate.

First picture seen with a PLA soldier with T95 carbine, and suprisinly it isnt shown with Spec Forces

The Canadian Forces deploys C-7 and C-8 carbines, plus MP-5's and SIG P226 pistols onboard their ships. I also believe C-6 and C-9 LMG's are also part of the personal weapons complement onboard CF ships.

They do get lots of personal weapons time. They may not be shooting at a range, but they are practising their shooting while on ship.

Re: Type 95 assault rifle

Yesterday I was watching China Central TV news, and a clip was shown about a military exercise that has been going on currently in China. Soldiers used QBZ 95 assault rifles in fully automatic mode. The rifle looks very stable in that mode. It doesn't kick like a horse. No doubt, the accuracy is high.
