Re: One 022 sank!

I made the title but I didn't take the picture. The guy who take (at least claimed to take) it published a lot of boat pictures taken from his window.

Looks fake, the 022 is not a big boat, that pic has maybe less than a third of the boat underwater? If the water is that shallow, I can't see how physically less than 1/3 of the boat underwater would be enough to raise the entire bow out of the water. If the pic was taken was the boat was in the process of sinking, where are the bubbles and the water foaming?

You should not make up your mind on the basis of just one or two inconclusive pics, although some later shots of a recovery exercise would have been more convincing.

I think the date does rather clinch it for me though:rofl:

Re: One 022 sank!

I'm looking at the angle the ship appears to be listing. A stern down and bow up list is unusual to me. But is is possible. It does seem to me it should be listing a little to port or starboad.

If this pic is real then the crew did a good job saving the ship and confined the flooding to the stern. I wonder how this occuried if the sinking did indeed occur???? Some sort of intake or exhaust portal may have been left open..somebody did not set "material condition yoke" properly..That navy talk for closing or opening certian ports, exhaust ,door hatches etc...

We need more pics or a close up for more proof.

Perhaps the incident occured while the ship was underway and the crew managed to get it back to the quay and got mooring lines attached before the stern began to go under?

The thing that makes me skeptical is that if there was an emergency here wouldn't you expect to see another vessel alongside giving assistance? And also shouldn't there be more activity on the quay?

To add to Zone's statement, shouldnt there be media about this? News and all that kind of stuff including US news trying to bash the incident?

C'mon now..The US media bashing this incident? They could care less. Now if some woman with big breast was aboard and drowned and she was somewhat famous they would be right on the story.

Trust me on this>>>most Americans know very little about China. Let alone the PLA.

That being said there is no media release on this "story". Curious..not really because it more than likely is a fake.

Re: Missiles for 2208 catamaran FAC

The 022 is my favorite ship. I know there is not that much information about the ship, but I have some questions and I am interested in your opinions.

1) How many YJ-83 can one of these ships hold?
2) What is some prediction on the speed of these ships?
3) How long can these ships do you think can be out at sea?
4) Would these ships move in groups of 2's or 3's or 4's for strategic reasoning?
5) Would thess ships be used in patrolling the waters or only for specific missions (going back to how long can they be out at sea)?

Re: Missiles for 2208 catamaran FAC

1) Two to eigth....no more, But its one of those great unknowns of PLAN
2) Can be quite good, aprox. in 40-60 knot class, I would suspect something around 55kt
3) Wery limited periods. I wouldnt suprise if they would be build like Italian Sparpiero class, with no berths and other facilities for sea traveling. But concept of these boats really doesent require such.
4) perhaps in brigades of 6-7 to exploid their tactical aspects.
5) The latter. These ships are only usefull in old shcool MTB tactics, with speed suprise dashes, and even faster speed to back in cover of the shore....
In no way these are to be mistaken as patrol vessels nor more multipurpose western and Russian concepts of coastal fighting units.
