Okay, I did not expect this post to get much of a reaction, it still got mostly laughing smileys.
If that is the case, we should dig a little deeper into it.
One chart or graph, a picture says it all.
Out of the roughly 7.5 million cars imported into the United States, only about 6.6% came from China, and probably most of that is Telsa or GM maybe.
Outside of Mexico, then those US allies are getting royally screwed over.
This is permanent too.
One salient point about tariffs that we all got to remember, is that once implemented, it is very difficult to remove them later on due to political reasons, aka vested interests.
So this is done, and it will not be reversed.
US allies like South Korea, Japan, Canada, Germany, must find a way to sell their domestically produced cars to someone else. This Trump 25% tariff is designed to shut them out of the US market.
The point here is that if the Trump administration does not like how this tariff is going, they might want to increase it more, to Chinese EV tariff rates.
The Americans are destroying the Liberal international order, that is the one they built.
This Liberal international order, much of it is ideological, wanting freedom and capitalism. But now, it is more like a big downgrade, so we do not know how this will turn out.
Trump trying to take all of Ukraine resources, that is the Liberal international order, the past and present, because it is still about freedom, aka the US will provide weapons for the Ukrainians can fight the Russians, and it is about capitalism, aka the US wants the profits from those resources.
Instead of saying freedom and capitalism, they use slogans like democracy, rules based order, for freedom, and free markets, financial liberalization, for capitalism.
A place like the United States, they still believe in that, just that they are sorely butt hurt because the Chinese are beating them at certain things.
So in a bizarre twist, the United States do not want to do the same old thing of freedom and capitalism with China, because they are getting beat, they go down the containment path to varying degrees of success.
But the United States still believes in freedom and capitalism, just that they believe it for themselves and not others, a clear sign of that is the brutality of these economic tariffs directed at their allies.
Not just Trump, it was Biden who pulled out of Afghanistan like it was nothing, who cares about how much the allies sacrificed there supporting the Americans.
Something has changed.
Something is drifting apart.
Since I am not an American, and do not follow politics, I do not know what has changed, but I think I can see the obvious.
Unlike some people in the world, like the lying Liberal media and Faux News.
