I see what you mean, I agree to regular observers it seems like the democrats bent the knee, but six months ago it was the republicans who bent the knee in a similar fashion.

I still don't like your analogy though, China did bent the knee imo during Pelosi trip, but China and American politicians aren't secretly allied together, unlike democrats and republicans.

An extreme example but it was the only thing that I could think of at the moment that might get my point across. Republicans did bend the knee 6 months ago but they also secured compromises from the Democrats to remove provisions in the funding bill. The Democrats didn’t get anything.

The republicans had control of the house at that time though. It's only natural they were able to secure compromises. The Democrats aren't in control of anything, they are in a much weaker negotiation position.

Baltic chihuahuas love to talk big.
Their foreign policy actually make sense for them. The Baltics are very small countries that need the Americans to balance both the Brussels and Russia. Western European politicians are unforgivable for letting them hijack the European diplomacy though. It happened because West Euro politicians cannot say no to the atlanticists.

Someone made a good point on twitter about the discourse of “reindustrialization.” If these jobs return will they be union high paying jobs? If it is American products will be very expensive. Also MAGA despises unions so that won’t happen. Or on the other hand low paying minimum wage $10 an hour factory jobs with no unions in an economy in the midst of a cost of living crisis so American products could be cheaper so they compete with other economies. Also on top of that you’re gutting social safety nets that will no doubt increase the poverty level in an economic downturn. And boldly stating you are going to destroy your own education system. Where will your STEM workers come from? Are you going to import from India which will inflame internal tensions with the native populace?

Also do you have control of the supply chain? China has mastered this so well. All the rare earth minerals the US needs to reindustrialize is under the control of China. China could disrupt that so easily for the US. Another how is your shipping industry? China’s shipbuilding industry eclipses the US. Using tariffs and ship tanker fees isn’t going to boost your own domestic ship building industry. The plan has no strategy. To reach the goal of total reindustrialization has no final goal what that even looks like. This plan also overlooks the years of pain it will take to reindustrialize.
Trump’s economic plans sounds similar to those scammer forex guru guaranteeing you that you can make $2,000 everyday day trading currencies with no downside. Only invest all your lifesavings into this trading platform and watch the money grow and theirs is no chance this will fail. Sounds scammy and it’s going to end in total catastrophe.

If you look at it in another way, it will actually make sense for Western Europe.

For example, if WE does not allow baltics to have "lead" role in the EU or NATO, what is keeping NATO together? Also, NATO and EU is one thing, WE is another; what I mean by this, while WE talk a lot about defending Ukraine, WE actually didn't commit any troops to it, neither did they go all in with their effort.

why is WE doing this? WE want to put on the face, that WE care about the baltics, but at the sametime, they want the baltics to be meatshields. If this war resulted in 30 million dead ukarians, and only 100k dead russians, that is 100k less russians for the WE to deal with. Either way, it is a win for WE, because they cost very little in finance, equitpment, manpower, and they get to stand the moral high ground.

It does reveal the deficiency in WE military, but it is preferable to discover the problem with dead ukrainans rather than dead french or germans.

The smartest way for Ukraine was actually make big noise, but never actually go into the war, becasue for Ukraine, it will just end up with bunch of dead ukrainians. if ukriaians politcal leaders actually care about their country, they should have fled and surrender. but reality, they use dead ukrainians to fatten their own wallet. when ukraine collapse, bunch of those "leaders" will flee with their corruption aid money, probably "ukarian goverment in exit" in UK.

Basically, the Baltics are the dumb kid willing to impress the cool kids by throwing the water balloon at the teacher while class is in session

Thinking about the recent university bill it seems that a visa ban is an indirect threat to universities. Once visas are banned to various countries then universities lose revenue. It's meant to target universities.
Is that connected w the Columbia issue? Like those pro palest1n1an protest issue?
