The War in the Ukraine

I don't expect Belarus to join the war now now that Russia is on the back foot, but then again all those Iranian drones launched from Belarus today was also a surprise so who knows.
It would be idiotic for Belarus to join the war now.

At the very least, if they wanted to join, they should wait until the Russian reservists are sent to Ukraine. That, and Belarus joining the war would create tremendous momentum and it could actually break Ukraine.

However it all depends if Belarus will join. If I was them, I would sit it out

Clark is highly hypocritical if you ask me, acting like the media shill he is now. WW2 has massive use of artillery in all sides, and in the Korean War, American artillery is heavily used to beat back Chinese "human waves", albeit with considerable degree of success. Russia trying to conserve much of its manpower tells you that they value the individual soldier above everything else, even if this means abandoning ground and equipment.
The Soviet army in WW2 was immensely capable at combined arms and maneuver warfare. Operation Bagration where the Soviets destroyed the Wermacht’s Army Group Center and advanced 300 miles in 5 weeks or the Invasion of Manchuko where the Soviets steamrolled a 1M strong Japanese/Korean army and conquered an area almost twice the size of Ukraine in 3 weeks are prime examples.

I am yet to see Russia demonstrate that it is capable of either.

A source in the relevant Russian security bodies told RT's reporter that the Ukrainian forces are suffering heavy losses and chaos and panic prevails in its staff command, due to a malfunction in the work of the Starlink satellites

Multiple missile strikes targeted Ukrainian cities all across the country on Monday morning, according to local officials and media, which attributed the attacks to Russia. This comes two days after a bomb damaged the strategic Crimean Bridge – which Moscow called a Ukrainian terrorist attack.

The office of Valery Zaluzhny, the commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian armed forces, reported they had detected at least 75 missiles and claimed they had intercepted 41.

President Vladimir Zelensky confirmed the attacks throughout the country in a video address, saying numerous parts of Ukraine had come under fire, and claimed that Russia was targeting the energy infrastructure. “They want panic and chaos,” he said.
Local officials in Lviv, Kharkov, and Odessa also reported that their cities came under fire.

In Kiev, damage from the strikes was reported near the headquarters of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), which is located in the government area of the capital. City officials halted operations of the metro system, and the stations are now being used as shelters for civilians.

The head of Lviv Region, Maksim Kozitsky, reported that elements of the western province’s energy infrastructure came under attack.

Boris Filatov, the mayor of Dnepr, a major city in central Ukraine, confirmed the strikes and said he could only feel “hatred and the wish to fight,” while urging residents to take shelter.

Vitaly Kim, who heads the southern Nikolaev Region which borders Russia’s Kherson Region, reported dozens of projectiles and a number of kamikaze drones coming from Russian troops. He claimed that Moscow was targeting “critical infrastructure” throughout the country.

With similar accounts coming in from many parts of the country, senior Ukrainian officials have expressed determination to fight Russia. “Our courage will never be destroyed by terrorists’ missiles, even when they hit the heart of our capital,” Defense Minister Aleksey Reznikov tweeted, also claiming that Russia’s future is that of “a globally despised rogue terrorist state.”

The strikes on Monday were launched two days after Russia’s Crimean Bridge was damaged by a powerful explosion, which Moscow blamed on the Ukrainian special services. Senior Russian officials described the plot – which apparently involved sneaking explosives into a cargo truck and detonating it as it crossed the bridge between Crimea and mainland Russia – as a terrorist attack on critical civilian infrastructure.

Officials in Kiev previously claimed that the bridge was a legitimate military target and have called for its destruction.

Oh wow, Lukashenko is sending his troops. Said Belarus detected Ukrainian was planning an attack:

As usual Lukashenko uses weird expressions...

Belarus joining is huge. If Russia really was as hard pressed as some pro Kiev people were claiming, there can be no circumstance where Belarus would join. While Russia can always do a nuclear ultimatum if they're defeated, Belarus runs a real risk to be colonized if they get defeated. So evidently Lukashenko has information which the public does not know which caused Belarus to take this decision.

In other news: EU and US ambassadors leaving Kiev.

This strengthens my suspicion that the 300k reservists are almost all not for Ukraine. They're for taking the garrison roles from active duty soldiers on NATO borders, while the active duty troops all go to Ukraine.

We can only observe if the long awaited blitz on Lvov and Kiev will happen, or if Russia is doing something incomprehensible again. To be honest, Russia is right on timeline for a decisive push after spending 8 months slowly degrading Ukrainian forces. And afaik this is the first time since the start of the war when Ukrainian internet access was hit.
